Inspire Greatness**POSITION SUMMARY**The Senior Manager, Accounting, will oversee the month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely completion of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and prepaids. This is a hands on role, requiring active involvement in close activities, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation, while also providing leadership to the team. The Senior Manager will partner across Finance and business units, foster continuous improvement, and leverage Workday to enhance efficiency and accuracy.**MAJOR ELEMENTS OF THE ROLE****Month-End and Quarter-End Close*** Lead and manage the month-end and quarter-end close, including journal entry review, accruals, prepaids, and fixed asset accounting.* Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of close activities in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies.* Monitor and enforce close timelines and deliverables.**Account Reconciliations & Financial Statement Preparation*** Oversee the balance sheet account reconciliation process, ensuring reconciliations are accurate, complete, and properly supported.* Provide financial analysis to support management decision-making.* Assist with preparation of financial statements and related disclosures.* Provide variance analysis to explain results and identify areas of risk or concern.**Business Partnering*** Partner with business units to review financial results, accruals, prepaids, and other balance sheet items.* Provide insights and analysis to help business leaders understand financial performance and make informed decisions.* Serve as a trusted advisor on accounting and close-related matters.**Workday System Expertise, Process Optimization & Change Leadership*** Leverage Workday functionality to optimize close and reconciliation processes.* Partner with IT and Finance teams to resolve system issues and implement enhancements.* Lead Workday implementations, upgrades, or new module rollouts (e.g., Accounting Center), ensuring team readiness and training.* Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency within close and reconciliation workflows.* Prepare the team for Workday updates and ensure seamless adoption of new features.**Coaching, Mentorship & Team Development*** Mentor and develop accounting team members, strengthening technical knowledge and Workday expertise.* Provide training and guidance on close, reconciliations, and accounting processes.* Foster a collaborative, learning-oriented environment with a focus on continuous improvement.**Audit Support*** Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and documentation.**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED****Qualifications and Technical Expertise*** University degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.* Professional designation (CPA) required.* Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with financial statement preparation.* Proficiency in ERP systems; Workday Financials preferred.* Advanced MS Excel skills; proficiency in MS Office suite.**Attributes*** Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop a team.* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.* Hands-on approach with a willingness to be directly involved in close activities, reconciliations, and problem-solving (“roll up sleeves”)* Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively across the organization.**WORKING CONDITIONS UNIQUE TO JOB*** Hybrid work environment.**Great Environment**HomeEquity Bank offers a hybrid working environment supported with a culture of flexibility – an approach that is unique to each person, and that enables both business and individual needs to be met in a mutually beneficial way.We pride ourselves in recognizing and celebrating performance, community service, teamwork, and diversity among our employees.**A Dynamic Culture – With People at the Centre**We believe our people make all the difference; our tireless commitment to inclusivity, professional development, and employee experience has been recognized through awards including the Greater Toronto’s Top Employers 2024,Waterstone Canada's Most Admired Corporate Cultures 2022-2023, the Globe and Mail's Report on Business: Canada's Top Growing Companies 2022 (third year since 2019), Canadian's Mortgage Professional (CMP) Top Mortgage Employer 2023 for the third year in a row and Achievers Top 50 Most Engaged Workplaces 2023. **Growth and Opportunities**
