Practice Group: Private Capital, Performance Transformation – Commercial Effectiveness (CE)

Role: Engagement Manager

About the Role As an Engagement Manager, you will lead project teams in post‑deal value creation efforts and pricing/GTM due diligence activities. Your responsibilities include:

Leading teams of consultants on commercial topics (pricing, sales, marketing) – developing hypotheses, managing data collection, modeling, research, insight generation.

Guiding the consulting team through ideation, client information review, interviews, insight development, and deliverable production.

Synthesizing findings into written presentations and discussing them with clients and stakeholders.

Supporting Partners with project execution, including work planning, workflow management, coaching, mentoring, and career development support for junior members.

Building strong client relationships, presenting to senior audiences, and working with C‑Suite and senior executives.

Communicating issues and solutions formally and informally through written and verbal communication.

Applying best practices, your own and the firm’s technical competencies to deliver successful projects.

Guiding and influencing client and team thinking.

Contributing to business development – proposals, pitches, and follow‑on opportunities.

Guiding clients through implementation and change management to ensure adoption and measurable impact.

Desired Skills and Experience

5‑8+ years of consulting or similar project‑based, team‑oriented experience for Engagement Managers (8+ years for Principals) with a focus on top‑line growth strategy, pricing, or go‑to‑market strategy.

In‑depth knowledge of pricing, sales, or marketing, with familiarity in analytics‑driven approaches and commercial effectiveness tools (pricing systems, sales performance management, digital go‑to‑market platforms).

Solid understanding of private equity dynamics and operational frameworks.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams and collaborate in fast‑paced environments.

Strong analytical and strategic problem‑solving skills.

Exceptional verbal and written communication, with experience presenting to senior leadership.

Willingness to travel for projects as required.

Proven mentorship and development of diverse teams, fostering inclusivity.

Undergraduate degree; advanced degree (MBA or similar) preferred.

Additional Background on Our Team and Work

Optimizing commercial levers:

Sales force and channel optimization (account management, field sales, territory design, multichannel sales).

Pricing, packaging, and promotions (B2C transactional and subscription models, B2B pricing, packaging, discounting, promotional effectiveness).

Marketing effectiveness (marketing ROI, loyalty program design, customer value management, test‑and‑learn platforms, propensity modelling, digital campaign optimization).

Creating new propositions:

Commercial strategy (competing with disruptors, price repositioning, market entry, growth acceleration).

New value propositions (future market stimulation, business design and launch).

Product and service offering (bundling, tariff design, ancillary revenue strategy, own‑brand development, customer experience design).

Enabling organizations to achieve both:

Tools and dashboards (visibility & control platform, B2B/B2C sales and pricing tools).

Technology (3rd‑party vendor assessment, agile datamarts, commercial effectiveness tools).

Commercial organization (pricing organization design, talent retention, salesforce incentives, compensation design).

Change enablement (governance, training programs, performance management processes).

Examples of recent work:

Re‑designing SaaS pricing and packaging for a PE‑owned software player.

Rapid pricing diagnostic for a growth‑stage, PE‑owned mortgage appraisal software player.

Upskilling a PE‑owned B2B services organization to renegotiate 100+ customer contracts.

Developing a pricing organization and operating model for a legacy manufacturer.

Leading a sales turnaround for an industrial gas supplier.

Implementing discounting controls for a global travel operator.

Designing incentive plans and scorecards for a leading insurance broker.

Benefits and Compensation The applicable base salary range for this role is $225,000 to $240,000. Base pay will be determined based on experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance‑based incentives. We offer a competitive total rewards package that includes health and welfare benefits, tuition assistance, 401(k) savings and other retirement programs, and employee assistance programs.
