This senior level role will drive our growth mindset. Your will liaise daily with our Senior Leadership team providing direct insight into the business and growth objectives. Salary: $140,000 - $170,000

Job Description The Senior Director, Canada FP&A & Controllership plays a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy and driving operational excellence across Canada. Reporting directly to the CFO of Canada, this Finance leadership position is responsible for overseeing a broad financial portfolio, including FP&A, Controllership, Taxation, and Supply Finance, and directly/managing a team of 12 or more professionals. The Senior Director is expected to lead transformation initiatives, optimize financial processes, and provide actionable insights to support decision‑making at the highest levels.

Establish a Comprehensive FP&A Framework

Develop and maintain a consolidated view of FP&A across the business, ensuring alignment with controllership governance and internal controls.

Develop and implement best practices. Foster a well‑controlled and adaptable financial operation by implementing best practices and tools that ensure strong fiscal management, encourage cross‑team collaboration, and streamline workflows.

Coordinate financial processes. Oversee the coordination of the monthly business review process, month‑end close process, and flash reporting to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Enhance Financial Oversight, Risks, and Opportunities

Lead balance sheet oversight and corporate SG&A management, facilitating a proactive approach to financial health and resource allocation.

Enhance financial forecasting and analytics. Build, improve, and sustain comprehensive financial forecasting and analytics across the organization to support data‑driven business decisions.

Conduct thorough business analysis to generate key insights and recommendations, preparing impactful presentations that enable leadership to evaluate business initiatives, projects, and strategic decisions.

Monitor financial risks and opportunities. Manage Canada‑wide financial risks and opportunities as they relate to finance, proactively creating awareness and mitigation strategies to safeguard the organization’s financial health.

Manage and optimize SG&A. Oversee SG&A management and optimization to enhance operational efficiency and align expenditures with strategic goals.

Oversee Taxation and Compliance

Lead the Canadian tax function, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial tax regulations, including income tax provisions, commodity taxes, transfer pricing, and tax audits.

Serve as a key advisor on tax matters, collaborating with North American tax teams to drive alignment with regional tax strategies and manage regulatory risks.

Drive tax innovation and strategy alignment. Champion the development and execution of innovative tax strategies that align with the broader corporate vision and proactively collaborate with North American tax leadership to influence tax policy changes.

Tax risk management and global integration. Identify and mitigate tax risks, ensuring that the Canadian tax function is seamlessly integrated with global tax initiatives and advising on the impact of tax reforms, cross‑border issues, and evolving regulatory requirements.

Lead Supply Finance

Oversee the Supply Finance function, ensuring implementation of effective processes to manage accruals, data integration from vendors, and accounts receivable.

Work closely with Procurement and BP&A teams to optimize Vendor Discount Agreements (VDAs) and enhance vendor relationships through improved compliance and data‑driven decision‑making.

Foster strategic vendor partnerships and value optimization. Develop vendor management strategies that align with corporate financial goals to improve profitability.

Lead advanced data analytics for financial forecasting. Adopt big data and machine learning models to optimize spend planning, refine vendor performance insights, and forecast more accurately.

Leadership and Team Development

Lead and develop a diverse team of 12 professionals, including FP&A, Tax, and Supply Finance staff, fostering a high‑performance, collaborative culture.

Mentor and coach direct reports to ensure they possess the skills and resources needed for organizational and personal development goals.

Risk Mitigation and Audit Liaison

Support long‑term risk mitigation planning and act as the key audit liaison for Canada.

Strengthen controls and governance by ensuring compliance with audit requirements and internal controls, fostering accountability and transparency.

Serve as the primary liaison for audits, ensuring all aspects of controllership, tax compliance, and corporate FP&A are managed effectively.

Projects and Ownership

Support special projects, including partnerships, new business models, and mergers & acquisitions, providing robust analysis and strategic alignment.

Act as the key financial liaison for NORAM financial integration from Canada, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment with regional strategies.

Oversee controllership and compliance, ensuring adherence to governance and internal controls across all financial operations.

Collaborate as a trusted advisor with the CFO and other senior leaders, delivering insightful financial analysis and strategic recommendations to drive informed decision‑making.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field. CPA preferred (or equivalent experience and expertise).

CPA designation is required.

Must be able to work from our Etobicoke office two days per week for days designated for the Finance team.

Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in FP&A or business reporting roles, with strong experience in consolidation, forecasting, financial reporting, and variance analysis.

Demonstrated experience in financial governance, process optimization, and integrity‑checking of large financial datasets.

Experience working in multi‑unit or matrixed organizations is an asset.

Experience leading or coaching teams in a fast‑paced environment.

Proven ability to influence without authority across business functions.

Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial planning systems.

Experience with Power BI, digital analytics tools, or planning platforms is an asset.

Familiarity with AI‑enabled productivity and analytics tools (e.g., scenario automation, anomaly detection, report generation).

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a challenger mindset.

Excellent written and verbal communication, including executive presentation.

Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment across Canada and NORAM teams.

Strong time management and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Bilingual in English is a very strong asset; proficiency in French is an asset.
