About this opportunity
Cenovus is seeking an Auditor to join our Internal Audit team. This role supports Cenovus’s commitment to strong governance, effective risk management, and efficient business processes across the organization. The successful candidate will support the execution of internal audit engagements, assess internal controls, and evaluate operational and financial processes across the business. You will collaborate with stakeholders to provide insights and recommendations that support continuous improvement and strengthen risk management practices. An appreciation for data analytics and digital audit techniques is considered an asset.
What you’ll do
Support the development of audit objectives, scope, and testing strategies based on risk assessments.
Execute end-to-end audit activities including planning, fieldwork, testing, and reporting in accordance with Internal Audit methodology.
Document business processes, controls, risks, and audit findings clearly and accurately.
Engage with stakeholders across business units to understand processes, assess controls, and identify improvement opportunities.
Communicate audit observations and recommendations clearly to management through both written reports and discussions.
Utilize data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, ACL, SQL, Python, Excel) to extract, transform, and analyze large datasets.
Perform data-driven audit testing to identify trends, anomalies, and potential control gaps.
Develop dashboards and visualizations to support audit insights and continuous monitoring activities.
Contribute to the Internal Audit team’s digital initiatives, including automation and analytics-enabled audit practices.
Who you are
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in internal audit, external audit, risk management, data analytics, or a related field.
CPA, CIA, CISA, CRMA, or a comparable professional designation (or actively working toward one).
Experience within the energy, oil and gas, or large-scale industrial sectors is considered an asset.
Proficiency with audit and data analytics tools such as Power BI, SQL, Python, ACL, Tableau, and Excel.
