The Project Engineering Senior Specialist/Engineer position is open in Canada. The base salary hiring range for this position is $100,000 to $130,000 per year. Once in the role, successful candidates will have the opportunity to progress through the full salary range based on performance. This range reflects the base salary only and does not include additional components of our total compensation package, such as our incentive award program and other rewards like health benefits, employee profit‑sharing, retirement savings, and more. Job Description Project engineering focuses on the execution of engineering efforts by managing scope, cost, and schedule while considering engineering resources, project milestones, and existing departmental procedures. The project engineer collaborates with various engineering groups to resolve day‑to‑day issues and provide technical guidance as needed. They keep internal and external stakeholders informed of progress and the status of responsible projects and tasks.

Key Job Elements

Lead the development of engineering proposals using ED&T processes, provide technical guidance and support to Program and Contracts during negotiations.

Independently prepare planning documents and lead project execution of GDLS‑C engineering efforts, managing scope, cost, and schedule using existing departmental procedures and guidance documents.

Liaise as required with other GDLS‑C departments, ensuring that new designs are developed in accordance with the requirements of the prime contract(s) and GDLS‑C requirements.

Lead technical & system specification reviews.

Manage cost and schedule performance of GDLS‑C engineering efforts using Earned Value Management System (EVMS) practices, highlighting areas of concern and taking corrective action where required.

Lead technical customer interactions representing engineering by preparing necessary material, and presenting as required by contract and project scope of work (in process reviews, scoring conferences, start of work meetings, technical interchange meetings, customer design reviews, etc.). Prepare and deliver project deliverables in accordance with the contract.

Collaborate with Supply Chain Management to develop material availability mitigation plans when necessary.

Independently lead resolution of day‑to‑day issues and provide technical guidance to the design teams.

Lead Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, and analyses of test, production, or field issues, while coordinating with other engineering departments, and provide recommendation of corrective action(s).

Lead test planning, execution, and reporting activities. Review customer deliverables for completeness prior to submission.

Coordinate engineering responses with CM, Program, and Contracts to customer’s requests.

Prioritize, coordinate, and execute technical data package change processes.

Support and coordinate updates and reviews of the contract(s) requirements, in compliance with internal Engineering processes.

Manage subcontracts of higher complexity by defining technical requirements, supporting vendor selection and evaluation, reviewing and approving statements of work (SOW), managing technical communications, overseeing compliance, supporting supplier integration and testing, contributing to risk management.

Required Qualifications

University Degree or College Diploma in a technical discipline.

Minimum 5 years experience in Engineering or equivalent technical position.

Demonstrated ability to work in a cross‑functional team and provide technical leadership and direction as appropriate.

Demonstrated ability to manage cost, schedule and performance.

Experience with EV practices and EV Contract deliverables.

Experience with LAV II products.

Prior experience with the preparation of Bid & Proposal documents.

Superior analytical skills to solve technical problems at component, sub‑system or system level.

Superior communication, organization and prioritization skills.

High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment.

Ability to travel (5% Cdn) and (10% US & Int'l) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport.

Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Restrictions for confined space.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced university degree in a related field.

P. Eng or the ability to obtain a P. Eng.

Experience leading a cross-functional team.

Experience supervising technical personnel, delegating tasks and managing cost/schedule.
