Director, Enterprise Risk Management and Insurance

The client is seeking a Director for its Enterprise Risk Management and Insurance division, located in Toronto, ON. The role involves advancing the client's enterprise risk management framework. The Director will oversee the development of a comprehensive enterprise risk management program, which includes managing the insurance portfolio and all related claims. This position requires a knowledgeable leader in the realm of enterprise risk management, with a particular focus on emerging risk trends and the integration of risk with institutional strategies. The role is vital to ensuring appropriate risk reporting to the Governing Council, thereby aiding in the accomplishment of oversight obligations within the client's operations. Key responsibilities include leading the identification, scoring, mitigation, and monitoring of enterprise risks. The Director will provide strategic expert advice to senior leaders critical to policy development concerning major functions such as finance, operations, safety, and security. They will also develop university-wide policies to assist in risk tolerance application, lead the implementation and communication of risk policies, and facilitate risk management knowledge transfer to contribute to sustainable practices. Furthermore, the Director will oversee a multifaceted insurance program, managing university-wide policy implementations for all areas involving insurance. The Director will lead various special projects, coordinating with senior management on strategic initiatives like contracts and feasibility studies for new student initiatives. They will also manage fixed asset inventory systems and self-insured construction programs. A process must be developed for measuring risk mitigation activities that inform leadership and governance reporting. The Director will assess ongoing insurance needs, arranging special policy coverage for priority projects. This role requires someone who can utilize a change management approach to handle complex, dynamic responsibilities effectively.
