The REM project is located in Montreal, Canada and its operation and maintenance activities are spread across a 67km network with its maintenance facilities in Brossard and Saint‑Eustache. Alstom’s scope for the project is to support the operator and maintainer by providing technical support and spare parts for the rolling stock and signalling activities focusing mainly on level 4 maintenance activities.
As a maintenance system engineer on the REM project your main activities would be :
Safety Management
Execute safety risk analysis for concession management
Contribute to maintaining the highest standards in railway and employee safety through maintenance operations.
Supports the Product Safety management system ensuring safety risks are mitigated in a timely manner.
Captures and ensures ownership of regulations and standards to be applied.
Technical Data Management
Manages and updates the technical documentation within the system and any required interface with the MMIS (Updating of drawings, documentation, Technical Library)
Define technical requirements in order to develop the work instructions and processes from the maintenance plan and maintenance manuals.
Maintenance Support Activities
Analyses failure criticality studies and uses RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) and other available methodologies to define and optimize the maintenance requirements, tasks and intervals.
Maintain and update the LCC model by sub-system and identify risks and opportunities related to the LCC
Supports cost reduction actions, with sourcing and industrial teams.
Monitor material and spare parts consumption to ensure parts availability for maintenance operations
Prepare make or buy analysis for overhaul activities
Parts configuration and obsolescence management
Actively contributes to the Configuration and Design Change Management of the Project
Maintains the applicable configuration for hardware and software.
Ensures efficient parts codification in line with Platform rules: materials identification, codification process, interfaces with Alstom systems, quality and normative requirements.
Manage the obsolescence management plan, ensure obsolescence monitoring and evaluate technical or logistical proposal to ensure availability of parts.
Technical Support
Provide technical support for troubleshooting, incidents investigations and recovery using Alstom standard processes such as 8D methodology.
Capable of providing training to customer and maintenance operation staff when required
Detects, defines and implements the modifications of the maintained products to improve its reliability and serviceability, in order to reduce project costs and improve the performance of the systems.
Use available resources such as HealthHub to detect failure trends and identify necessary remedial actions.
Qualifications Requirements
2+ years of experience in Railways system/Application engineering
Knowledge of rolling stock equipment, mainly Bogie, TCMS, Traction, Air&Brakes
Available 8hours/day and 5 days/week in one MSF and remain available on call (outside the 8/5 hours) and able to be in the MSF within 1 hour when on call
1-3 years of experience in Railways system/Application engineering
Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec
Knowledge of rolling stock equipment & Maintenance
Working knowledge of safety management systems and safety risk assessment
Proficient in the use of MS Office, SAP, Maximo
