Overview
AGO Art Camp, Administrative Lead Counsellor is a Temporary Full-Time position (35 hours per week) located in Toronto with an hourly rate of $20. Target start date: 05/13/2026. Target end date: 09/11/2026. The role reports to the Manager, Camp, Courses and Studio Programming and supports camp operations, attendance management, frontline customer service, and staff mentorship during the summer.
Responsibilities
Organize, maintain and distribute camp attendances and associated lists, including daily and weekly reports.
Lead daily attendance check-in and check-out processes for all campers; collaborate with Visitor Services to maintain up-to-date records.
Oversee volunteer placement and assist with counsellor placements.
Manage day-to-day camp operations, provide excellent front-line customer service (in-person, by phone, and email); cover for counsellor and lead staff absences as required.
Plan and lead activities in collaboration with the Manager, Camp Coordinator, fellow lead staff, counsellors and volunteers; support indoor and outdoor programming to promote well-being and safety.
mentor counsellors and volunteers, demonstrating best practices in behavioural management, customer service, program planning and delivery, and health & safety awareness.
Implement a comprehensive counsellor and volunteer training program; write an end-of-summer report with recommendations for the following summer.
Qualifications
Enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary program in arts administration, visual arts, education, physical education, health and recreation or related field (or within 24 months of graduation).
Standard First Aid CPR/AED Level C is required before start of employment.
Experience in child behaviour management and supervising groups of children (aged 5-13) in camp or educational settings.
Enjoys working with children and youth.
Strong computer skills (word processing, data processing); familiarity with Excel, Word and Outlook.
Experience with CampBrain software is an asset.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong problem solving, team-building and training abilities.
Strong interest in the visual arts.
