Software Engineer, Backend (Institutional - Prime)

Remote - Canada Join Coinbase and contribute to increasing economic freedom in the world by building the future of the onchain platform. As a Backend Engineer in the Institutional product group, you will be responsible for developing the next generation of crypto-forward products and features, solving complex technical problems at scale, and building systems to make cryptocurrency accessible to everyone. You will help enable institutions to custody their digital assets and participate in the crypto economy in a secure and safe way. Responsibilities: Decompose monolithic Rails app into microservices. Articulate a long term vision for maintaining and scaling our backend systems. Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to define a tangible roadmap. Write high-quality, well-tested code. Requirements: 2+ years of experience in software engineering. Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services and service-oriented architectures. Passion for building an open financial system. Nice to Haves: Experience with rapid company growth (startup to mid-size). Experience building growth experiments or A/B tests. Experience with Blockchains (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.). Experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices. Experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or Redshift. Experience building financial, high reliability, or security systems. Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity.
