What is the opportunity?
As a senior software developer, you will work with developers to develop and maintain services for integration with both external vendor applications and internal RBC systems. We are looking for top notch software engineers who are great team players and obsessive about the quality of their code and delivered service. The role requires a highly skilled individual with a strong background in software development, cloud-based distributed systems, and production support. You will assist the application custodian and will work closely with crossโfunctional teams to design, develop, and maintain robust solutions while adhering to best practices in software engineering and DevOps.
Key Responsibilities
Work within an Agile product team comprised of technical, product, business team members and external vendor to deliver exceptional products
Work closely with RBC downstream teams and external vendor and come up with integration design
Collaborate with other developers on the team to model and design and support highly scalable APIs
Assist the DevOps/support teams in various activities, such as troubleshooting high priority implementation issues, production investigations, etc.
You will actively seek out knowledge about new technologies (i.e. Gen AI) and how they can be used to solve current and foreseeable challenges
Ensure high code quality through automated unit and functional testing
Must Haves
A degree in information technology or computer science plus two years related experience; OR
An equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
1-3 years of front-end development experience with Angular, React, or Vue
Experience with TypeScript for type-safe development
1-3 years of back-end development experience with Node.js, and/or C/C++ or C#/.NET/.NET Core
Experience with SQL (e.g., MS SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB)
Experience with CI/CD DevOps pipeline tools such as GitHub, Helios, Jenkins, Ansible, and others.
Experience with Agile methodology an asset
Familiarity with financial planning concepts an asset
Nice-to-have
Java: Experience with Java programming language
Kafka: Experience with Apache Kafka
Confluence & JIRA: Experience with Confluence and JIRA for documentation and project management
Telerik Reporting: Experience with Telerik Reporting for report generation
Cloud: Experience with cloud platforms such as OpenShift, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud
Database: SQL Server, Snowflake, MongoDB, Elastic
DevOps: Experience with DevOps tools and methodologies
Containerization: Experience with containerization tools such as Docker
