Position Highlights Reporting to the Director of Compliance, the Lead, Enterprise Compliance implements, sustains and continually improves BC Hydro’s Enterprise Compliance Management Program, embedding the Enterprise Compliance Framework approach across business groups. The role facilitates practical, risk informed approaches and drives progress over perfection while enabling cross functional learning and measurable improvements. The focus of BC Hydro’s program is legal and regulatory obligations, including permits/licences and chosen areas of conformance and professional regulatory requirements.

What you’ll do

Advance the application of the Enterprise Compliance Framework across compliance areas; support governance/oversight and shared ownership of compliance in the business.

Develop and implement enterprise processes, systems, standards, guidelines and procedures that advance the application of the Enterprise Compliance Framework as needed.

Facilitate risk identification and assessment with business groups and use results to help prioritize the team’s plans and assurance activities.

Build capability through training and awareness that’s tailored, timely and practical for front line to executive level audiences.

Enable compliance improvements by supporting the business in integrating requirements into processes/systems and maintaining clear procedures and controls.

Plan and execute risk based monitoring and assurance; report insights, indicators and recommended actions that enable decisions.

Develop processes for improved tracking and appropriate management visibility of non compliances; promote cross corporate learning to address root causes.

Drive continual improvement cycles; track maturity and progress on improvements.

Lead coordination of Compliance Area Leads and Business Group Compliance Leads; partner with Legal, HR, Audit, Ethics and Contract Leads to align roles and actions.

Prepare concise enterprise reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, Executive management and the Board on risks, non compliances, maturity and progress.

Lead and develop a small team to support program sustainment and implementation.

What you bring

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Auditing, Law or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

10+ years in enterprise/regulatory compliance, risk, controls, governance or related disciplines across operational functions.

Proven experience implementing and sustaining enterprise compliance programs (risk assessment, training/awareness, monitoring/assurance, reporting, remediation and improvement).

Exceptional facilitation and collaboration skills; able to convene diverse stakeholders, navigate ambiguity and build consensus.

Strong communication and influencing skills—able to translate complex requirements into clear, practical guidance for all levels.

Demonstrated adaptability and judgment to make risk informed decisions and prioritize progress over perfection.

Solid understanding of compliance, risk, assurance and corporate governance practices; familiarity with ISO 37301 aligned frameworks is an asset.

Utility industry experience, a relevant master’s degree, or certifications in governance, risk management or audit are beneficial.

This posting is for a Full Time Regular position.

This position will be based at the Vancouver Office and follows a hybrid schedule requiring 3 days per week in the office.
