To pursue project and client development in the Sept-Îles region, BBA wants to bolster its local expertise in automation, instrumentation, and control. Working closely with our offices in Labrador City, Montréal, and Mont-Saint-Hilaire, this team actively involves in developing the Sept-Îles region and executing projects in the mining, metals, and energy sectors. As part of this small, collaborative team, proximity with colleagues is a priority. As such, the firm is looking for someone to fill the position of Automation Engineer or a candidate from the engineering profession (CEP). Since the office is strategically located close to our clients, you’ll have several opportunities to perform site surveys, provide technical assistance to local clients, participate in commissioning new equipment and systems, and work on projects of all sizes. Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with clients

Help define the scope of projects and proposals
Allocate tasks to technicians and drafters assigned to the project, review their work and assess the technical scope
Be involved in commissioning
Technical
Prepare plans and specifications as well as detailed engineering deliverables (P&IDs, layout drawings, I/O loop and motor control diagrams, lists of cables and instruments, installation details)
Draft reports, plans and specifications, construction and purchasing estimates and calls for tender
Prepare technical data sheets and select instruments (flow, pressure, level) and control valves
Provide technical assistance during construction work (electrical/instrumentation)
Perform inspections or technical surveys
Help with programming PLCs, DCSs and operator interfaces
Client service
Interact with clients and provide technical support to the team in charge of business development
Establish and maintain contact with clients
Define client needs and identify new needs during projects
Participate in commercial and technical proposal preparation

Summary of certifications and job requirements
Bachelor’s degree in automated production engineering, electrical engineering or other relevant training
Three or fewer years of relevant experience
Member of a Canadian professional engineering association
Experience in design, instrumentation and control
Experience in programming control systems (SCADA, PLC, DCS)
Available to travel to and from our BBA offices in the Greater Montréal area
Available for short‑ and long‑term work assignments at client locations or sites
Advanced level of English to collaborate effectively with BBA offices and/or clients in English‑speaking Canadian provinces and internationally. The frequency of English use may range from occasional to daily, depending on ongoing projects
Advanced level of French to collaborate effectively with BBA offices and/or clients in Québec
Asset: Interest or relevant experience in automation and instrumentation, or participation in detailed engineering of a mining project in the energy sector
Asset: Knowledge of ABB’s 800xA control platform
