Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer who is motivated by the challenge of reducing energy consumption and GHG emissions through retrofits to existing buildings, and who is ready to grow their technical and project delivery skills within a collaborative consulting environment. This is position requiring site work in the province of BC, primarily in the lower mainland.

Responsibilities
Manage project scopes, budgets, and design approaches for HVAC retrofits.
Lead building energy assessments and engineering feasibility studies.
Develop conceptual designs, calculations, and input to business cases and client reports.
Oversee detailed mechanical building systems engineering including troubleshooting, calculations, equipment selection, drawings, and specifications.
Prepare technical documentation packages for external coordination, budgetary pricing, and tender.
Manage construction administration activities including commissioning and project closeout.
Coordinate with internal team members and external trade allies (consultants, contractors).
Contribute to quality assurance and quality control processes.
Support the development and refinement of internal tools, standards, and templates.
Deliver projects on time and within budget.
Qualifications – Requirements
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
Experience in mechanical engineering for multi-family and/or commercial buildings.
10+ years of relevant experience, preferably in BC.
Working knowledge of the BC Building Code, Vancouver Building Bylaws, ASHRAE engineering & energy efficiency standards, and Canadian life-safety regulations.
Experience with assessments and feasibility studies.
Strong proficiency with MS Office (especially Excel).
Strong proficiency with AutoCAD.
Proficiency with Trace3D, IESVE, or other energy modelling and HVAC load calculation software.
Good English written and verbal communication skills.
Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.
Assets (Nice to Have)
Experience in BC with energy assessments, utility supported studies, and mechanical design.
Expertise with heat pump(s) and hybrid mechanical system solutions.
Experience with cooling solutions for residential and commercial buildings.
Expertise with DDC building automation systems and BACnet protocol.
