Key Accountabilities
Plan all assigned hardware (HW) design tasks independently, providing completion estimates and identifying potential design risks.
Track progress on all assigned technical tasks and provide concise, up-to-date status updates regularly.
Demonstrate intimate understanding of Chorus 2.0 requirements and contribute to their improvements.
Elaborate and present effective solutions to address department inefficiencies or problems.
Review relevant HW metrics to understand the performance level of HW design activities and participate in the HW Engineering Improvement plan.
Demonstrate a high degree of initiative, resourcefulness, and breadth of knowledge beyond a primary discipline when solving problems.
Stay updated with the latest developments in the field and maintain awareness of technologies in related disciplines.
Deliver effective designs for products and processes with a superior level of logical reasoning, ensuring an understanding of both the product and its system-level functionality.
Interpret, identify, and document HW requirements to meet customer needs, within budget and schedule constraints.
Ensure the safety and quality of hardware products while reducing deployment costs, contributing to greater product reuse and improved hardware quality.
Prepare specifications for hardware components or devices and review HW architectures.
Research and analyze source information for design activities, extracting pertinent data and presenting recommendations.
Make timely decisions by evaluating all relevant factors independently or collaboratively.
Utilize all relevant HW development tools effectively.
Communicate technical design issues and solutions clearly for review and approval by Hardware Engineering Managers.
Interact confidently and professionally with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Promote a harmonious team environment and mentor junior members in the HW department.
Maintain high professionalism in job performance and interactions with others.
Key Requirements
5+ years of experience in Hardware Design Engineering in URS or an equivalent industry.
Expertise in Embedded Systems Architecture and Design, Mechanical Design for the transportation industry, and design for manufacturing rugged equipment for deployment in harsh conditions.
Proficiency in schematic capture and circuit analysis, FPGA design, MicroโController design, modeling in MATLAB or equivalent tools, scripting languages, and electrical wiring diagrams (OrCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD 2D/3D).
Mechanical design expertise using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
Strong understanding of engineering processes and design methodologies.
Fluency in English is mandatory.
Demonstrated verbal skills to interact effectively and professionally across various forums.
Strong writing skills for preparing clear and concise reports and documents.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineering Designation desirable for Intermediate Designers and Technical Specialists.
