Job Description Working at BlackBerry’s headquarters in Waterloo, ON, the Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting will join a team of dynamic and experienced finance professionals on the Company’s revenue accounting team. Reporting to the Senior Director, Assistant Corporate Controller, the position will oversee BlackBerry’s revenue recognition processes, lease accounting and support various company initiatives, including fiscal period closing operations. Critical to this role will be business partnering across various organizations within BlackBerry such as Sales, FP&A, Legal, IT, Professional Services, and others, and will have direct exposure to the senior leadership team and is integral to the Company’s controller group.

Specific Accountabilities

Lead the revenue accounting close process, including journal entry and system deal review and ensure a high degree of quality, timeliness, and accuracy.

Review customer contracts for revenue recognition considerations and partner with Sales, FP&A, Legal, and cross‑functional teams on contract terms, new offerings, and technical accounting implications.

Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies related to multiple-performance obligation accounting, standalone selling price analyses, contract modifications, and other complex revenue areas.

Prepare well‑supported technical accounting analyses for routine and non‑routine revenue transactions and determine appropriate U.S. GAAP treatment.

Oversee revenue-related disclosures for external reporting and support compliance with SEC and U.S. GAAP reporting requirements.

Serve as a technical resource and mentor to the revenue accounting team.

Ensure proper lease accounting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.

Support internal and external audits, managing interim and year-end audit requirements.

Contribute to the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of internal controls over revenue and related processes.

Qualifications/Experience

Canadian or U.S. CPA designation required.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

5+ years of revenue recognition experience under ASC 606/IFRS 15, with strong understanding of GAAP as it applies to software licensing.

Strong technical accounting background, including the ability to research and interpret accounting standards, analyze complex transactions, and assess the impact of evolving guidance.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and NetSuite’s Advanced Revenue Module.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex revenue topics in clear, business‑focused language.

Ability to think strategically and work effectively across functions to resolve complex business issues.

Compensation Hiring Base Salary Range $110,825.00 - $157,300.00

The actual compensation offered will be determined at the time of hire and is contingent upon multiple factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, demonstrated skills, and results of assessments conducted during the hiring process.
