Role Description
The Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role in supporting financial planning, reporting, and decision‑making across the organization. This position is responsible for analyzing financial and operational performance, preparing management reports, and updating forecasts. The Senior Financial Analyst partners closely with cross‑functional teams to improve financial performance, support strategic initiatives, and enhance financial processes and controls.
Principal Accountabilities
Duties include the following:
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management
Perform variance analysis versus budget, forecast, and prior periods; identify key drivers and trends
Partner with business stakeholders to understand underlying causes and validate assumptions
Update periodic forecasts, incorporating actual results, business assumptions, and outlook changes
Assist in the annual budgeting and long range planning processes
Develop and maintain financial models to support planning, forecasting, and scenario analysis
Assist in building, maintaining, and improving product cost models
Analyze material, labor, overhead, and other cost components
Support cost updates, standard cost reviews, and margin analysis
Partner with Operations and Accounting to ensure cost accuracy and transparency
Conduct ad hoc financial and operational analyses in support of management requests
Support annual insurance renewal process
Support special projects, acquisitions, integrations, or transformation initiatives
Identify and implement improvements to financial models, reporting tools, and processes
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across financial systems
Assist in developing standardized reporting and best practices across the organization
Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline.
5 – 10 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, FP&A or related analytical role.
Strong experience in financial analysis, forecasting, and management reporting
Experience with product costing or cost modelling is highly preferred
Experience working with cross functional stakeholders and senior leadership
Mining, manufacturing, CPG, finance or related experience is an asset.
