Director, Strategy and Communications, Digital & Client Technology Solutions We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join our team as the

Director, Strategy and Communications . This pivotal role will drive strategic initiatives and lead internal communications efforts to advance Sun Life's digital and technology priorities, with a focus on our Canadian business.

Reporting to the AVP, Technology Strategy and Transformation, Digital and Client Technology Solutions (DCTS), you will shape and execute our strategic vision while ensuring effective communication of our initiatives internally.

Key Accountabilities Strategy

Support the development and implementation of strategic initiatives aligned with Sun Life Canada's technology and digital transformation goals.

Collaborate with senior leadership to translate strategic vision into actionable plans and integrated roadmaps.

Lead portfolio management for key initiatives, establishing metrics and governance processes.

Identify opportunities and prioritize initiatives based on business impact and client needs.

Develop and maintain an operating calendar for strategic planning activities.

Communications

Create and execute a comprehensive internal communication strategy that showcases the DCTS transformation, innovation and execution success.

Oversee key internal communications and storytelling initiatives with compelling narratives and content.

Fuel employee engagement through strategic and innovative internal communications.

Oversee planning of key events for the DCTS team.

Lead the use of new communication channels.

Leadership and Collaboration

Lead and develop a high‑performing team of communications and strategy professionals.

Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment and prioritization of strategic initiatives and communication efforts, with the employee experience top of mind.

Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and external partners.

What do you need to succeed?

Experienced communications leader with internal communications and multi‑channel expertise.

Strong business acumen and understanding of technology trends and industry best practices.

Strong storytelling skills and an eye for graphic design to support the delivery of impactful communications campaigns.

Self‑starter with a proactive ability to initiate integrated communications plans, to own execution and measure results across multiple channels.

A proven strategic ability to lead a team to plan, prioritize and collaborate with cross‑functional team to meet tight deadlines and deliver measurable results.

Ability to manage and coach team members to help them grow and develop.

Excellent interpersonal, leadership, strategic thinking and project management skills.

Assets

10 or more years of experience in communications and strategy roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.

Bilingual (English, French).

Understanding of technology trends and digital transformation.

Experience in developing engaging digital internal content strategies.

Experience with multimedia communications, including video or graphic design.

Experience with preparing executives for a variety of speaking engagement styles (e.g., panel, keynote, breakout facilitation).

Familiarity with Agile/Digital leadership environments.

For Quebec Residents: Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required as the position includes managing French and English‑speaking staff (Quebec and outside Quebec) and providing daily support to the team.

Salary Range:

$125,000 – $195,000.
