AGV Systems Engineer x1 – Focus: Material Transport Automation Core Responsibilities

Integrate and manage a fleet of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) for material transport within the factory.

Develop or configure fleet management software to dispatch AGVs, track their real-time locations, and interface with fixed equipment at loading/unloading stations.

Implement robust communication between AGVs and central control systems (using wireless networks, MQTT or similar messaging) to ensure safe and efficient routing, traffic control, and battery charging management.

Coordinate AGV operations with ASRS and production equipment to enable just-in-time delivery of parts and materials to the lines.

Must Have Skills

Proven experience deploying or integrating AGV systems or mobile robots in an industrial setting, including knowledge of fleet management and traffic control strategies.

Ability to design and support real-time control systems for vehicle coordination with fail‑safes (collision avoidance, emergency stop protocols) to ensure safety.

Familiarity with networking and wireless communication as used by AGVs (Wi‑Fi, vehicle‑to‑infrastructure messaging) to maintain reliable connectivity.

Good to Have Skills

Understanding of autonomous vehicle algorithms (routing, scheduling, obstacle avoidance) and experience with vendor‑specific AGV SDKs or APIs for customization.

Experience with MQTT or similar protocols for machine‑to‑machine communication, and knowledge of how to integrate AGV status data into MES or monitoring dashboards for visibility.
