Job Description
What is the Opportunity?
The Operational Data, Information & AI (ODIA) team within Personal & Commercial Operations (PCO) is seeking a Data Product Owner to drive ownership of analytical and business intelligence (BI) solutions that power decision‑making across PCO.
You will act as the bridge, translating business needs into scalable data and AI solutions by partnering closely with business leaders, data engineering, BI, and data science teams to define metric logic, gather requirements, set priorities, and champion adoption so that our partners derive maximum impact. You will ensure data and AI products are designed, developed, and maintained effectively throughout their lifecycle.
What will you do?
Own and evolve the consolidated roadmap for data and AI solutions across PCO. Provide clear visibility into planned work, sequencing, dependencies, and rationale while aligning with business priorities and partner needs.
Capture business requirements and work with relevant squads to deliver solutions— converting needs into clear user stories and delivery specifications; guiding the build of governed metric layers, curated data models, and production‑grade data pipelines.
Contribute to project management activities, including planning, execution, and monitoring of initiatives to ensure timely and successful delivery.
Champion adoption and continuous improvement, embedding solutions into business routines, measuring impact, and iterating based on feedback.
Serve as a connector across business and technical stakeholders, fostering strong relationships, driving alignment, and resolving issues.
Ensure trusted delivery by upholding governance standards, validating metric consistency, and aligning outputs to the enterprise data ecosystem.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
Deep knowledge of operational data, reporting, and metrics in Personal & Commercial Operations, with the ability to connect subject matter expertise to technical delivery.
Proven hands‑on experience delivering analytical and BI solutions, including building dashboards, designing reporting logic, and developing or enhancing analytical/data pipelines — combined with the technical fluency needed to collaborate effectively with data engineering, BI, and data science teams.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders and support adoption across diverse groups.
Ability to define and maintain the logic behind metrics and KPIs, ensuring top‑down alignment across executive and operational reporting.
Strong prioritization and organizational skills to manage competing demands, deadlines, and stakeholder needs in a dynamic environment.
Basic understanding of change management principles, including strategies for stakeholder engagement, addressing resistance, and fostering smooth transitions during solution adoption.
Experience supporting organizational change initiatives, such as process improvements or tool implementations, with a focus on minimizing disruption and maximizing user acceptance.
Nice‑to‑have:
Experience supporting the adoption of analytics and BI solutions in an operations context, including embedding reporting into business routines.
Proven track record of driving adoption of analytics and BI solutions in an operations context, including embedding reporting into business routines and building strong stakeholder relationships.
Familiarity with RBC’s data ecosystem, governance practices, and enterprise standards, with the ability to align new solutions to enterprise direction.
