Position Type: Full-Time ( contract )

Reports To: Executive Director

Salary Range: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00

About Canadian Tank Museum The Canadian Tank Museum is a Museum that is operated by a registered Charity located in Oshawa, ON Canada. The Charity funds the primary operation and continued expansion of the Museum and all of it's operational and financial needs.

The Museum is dedicated to the preservation of our proud military heritage with a focus on Tanks, and military vehicles used by the Canadian Armed Forces, our Allies and enemy combatant Nations during the many conflicts of our history. The Museum is home to North America's largest collection of operational historical military vehicles and prides itself on “Keeping History Alive”.

Job Summary As a Development Officer, you will drive the Foundation's fundraising activities, develop donor relations, and implement fundraising strategies to support our capital expansion campaign.

You will also be involved in other museum expansion activities such as working with museum staff, the Board of Directors and donors to implement and direct our current and future expansions.

This is a temporary opportunity that may grow into a long term permanent position for the right candidate in our fast moving and growing organization.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement innovative fundraising strategies:

The Museum Expansion – A public campaign will launched on May 2024 and run until 2027 or completion.

Write grants in conjunction with the Executive Director and the Expansion

Lead major gifts and annual campaigns

Work with the ED and Expansion Committee to cultivate relationships with current and potential donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.

Organize and manage fundraising events and donor recognition programs.

Maintain accurate and detailed donor communications, contributions, and feedback records.

Collaborate with the ED and Communications to enhance visibility and donor engagement through various channels.

Monitor fundraising trends and adapt strategies as necessary to meet targets.

Prepare regular reports on fundraising progress and effectiveness.

Assist in the Planning and execution of our Expansion:

Work with local contractors, designers and partners to aid in the completion of expansion activities as we move forward.

Work with stakeholders and the ED to complete a needs analysis for the organization and its future expansion needs.

Project Manage the current and future Expansions both large and small at our Oshawa location, including a new purpose built facility and the modification and adaption of existing facilitates

Assist the ED in the many varied administrative tasks to further the museums expansion.

Work with the Museum Expansion Committee:

Organize meetings and take detailed minutes of the Board of Directors;

Maintain task lists and action items, in conjunction with the ED; follow-up with responsible parties both internal and external to the organization.

Assist the Expansion Committee with organizational and administrative tasks to ensure their focus and success.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Museum Development or a related field.

At least three years of experience in fundraising or development roles, preferably within

Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with donors and stakeholders.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear and

Experience organizing and managing fundraising events.

Proficient in Donor Registry software and Google Office Suite.

Knowledge of or experience in Museums and the Canadian Armed Forces landscape is an asset.

Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
