Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Finance Manager is responsible for providing strong financial insights, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements to support key operational decisions. This role is a highly visible position that provides the foundation in all aspects of operations finance and accounting. The Senior Finance Manager will also bring strong leadership and analytical expertise to drive financial performance and growth.
This role is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with 2–3 days per week remote. The position requires reliable internet access and the ability to participate in video calls and team collaboration tools. Occasional travel to the main office may be required for meetings or training. Standard office hours apply, with some flexibility depending on project needs
Key Responsibilities:
Build and manage the relationship between the Finance Operations and Operations teams to align strategic goals and drive collaboration.
Oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
Lead and mentor the Finance Operations team, supporting professional growth and identifying key talent for development, while also:
Ensuring month-end results are completed in an accurate, timely and consistent manner
Monitoring the homes’ monthly spending and providing key financial information to enable operational decision making
Communicating any funding changes and updates
Continuously educating the operations teams and facilities leading to more robust reporting and analysis
Lead the forecasting and annual home budgeting process.
Review and present accurate consolidated financial and operational reporting to Upper Management.
Participate in the interim, year-end audits and lead the ARR (Annual Revenue Reconciliation) audits.
Collaborate with other department leaders to align financial goals, improve efficiencies and implement best practices.
Drive continuous improvement through strong controls, process optimization, and management of ad hoc financial projects.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
7+ years of progressive experience in finance & accounting with at least 3 years experience in a managerial role
Strong knowledge & understanding of financial statements, financial operations and internal controls
In-depth understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly MS Excel)
Proficiency with ERP systems; experience with Sage Intacct is considered an asset
Exceptional communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Experience with the senior care sector is considered an asset
