Job Summary EPCOR Water Services provides water treatment and delivery and wastewater collection and treatment to Edmonton residents and water service to regional customers. The planning, building, operating and maintenance of the plants, reservoirs, pipes, tunnels, pump stations and stormwater management facilities is facilitated by more than 1300 employees working on all aspects of the water cycle. This role leads the Maintenance Construction and Reliability teams across Edmonton’s Water Treatment Plants, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost‑effective maintenance and construction execution while guiding asset reliability planning and supporting long‑term asset management and capital project delivery.

Highlights of the Job EPCOR Water Services is recruiting a full‑time Manager, WTP Maintenance Construction & Reliability to lead the Maintenance Construction and Reliability teams across Edmonton’s Water Treatment Plants. This role ensures safe, reliable, and cost‑effective maintenance and construction execution while guiding asset reliability planning and supporting long‑term asset management and capital project delivery.

What You’d Be Responsible For Reporting to the Senior Manager, WTP Maintenance, you will lead teams that support asset maintenance, construction activities, reliability planning, and technical integration across EWTP sites.

Contribute to EWTP annual planning and translate Water Services strategies into actionable work plans.

Develop maintenance and reliability strategies aligned with asset management plans.

Identify resource, staffing, and budget needs to support plant operations and capital programs.

Operational & Technical Leadership

Ensure compliance with maintenance procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Drive process improvements that enhance efficiency, maintainability, and asset performance.

Oversee development and continual improvement of maintenance standards, procedures and practices.

Execution & Reliability

Lead safe and efficient execution of maintenance and construction work.

Support long‑term reliability by ensuring work is planned and completed with operational and lifecycle impacts in mind.

Address operational issues, shifting priorities, and barriers affecting delivery.

Lead and support skilled unionized and non‑union teams.

Build capability, develop team members, and support succession planning.

Work cross‑functionally to resolve issues and align maintenance and construction activities with broader operational and organizational priorities.

Provide expert input to capital planning, engineering design reviews, and commissioning activities.

Position‑Specific Responsibilities Asset Maintenance & Reliability

Lead maintenance and repair programs for WTP, reservoir, and solar farm assets.

Ensure rapid response and effective resolution of high‑priority equipment issues.

Guide the development and execution of asset reliability plans.

Construction Support

Support construction activities to meet schedule, cost, and quality expectations.

Identify maintainability risks during design review and construction planning.

Partner with Supply Chain to optimize spare parts management and procurement practices.

Risk & Safety Management

Strengthen safety culture and lead incident investigations with appropriate follow‑up.

Oversee contractor safety and maintenance‑related compliance.

Contribute to operational risk assessments and capital/resource planning.

Technical Expertise & Engagement

Represent Maintenance in projects, engineering, automation, process, and asset management initiatives.

Support commissioning, functional testing, and handover of new assets.

Participate in community and Indigenous engagement activities where relevant.

What’s Required to Be Successful Education

Post‑secondary education in engineering, trades, or a related technical field; professional designations considered an asset.

Experience

Minimum 5 years managing and leading large unionized teams.

2+ years experience in a water or wastewater utility.

5+ years in asset maintenance, reliability, or capital construction environments.

Technical Skills

Demonstrated experience in asset management and reliability‑centered maintenance.

Familiarity with ISO 55000 and CMMS tools (e.g., IVARA).

Strong understanding of maintenance best practices and plant operations.

Leadership Strengths

Strong operational judgment, ability to drive results, cross‑functional collaboration, influencing skills, and talent leadership.

Other Important Facts

Full‑time, Monday–Friday (40 hours/week).

Note: This role requires working at both the Rossdale and E.L. Smith Water Treatment Plants, with occasional travel to reservoir and booster station facilities. A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required to travel between sites.
