Wood is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer – Dynamic Design Specialist to join our Projects Canada team in either Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta. This role supports a diverse portfolio of heavy industrial and energy projects across Canada. The Role
The Senior Structural Engineer will serve as a technical authority in the design and analysis of structures supporting vibratory and dynamic equipment, including turbines, generators, compressors, and pumps. The role requires advanced expertise in structural steel and reinforced concrete design, dynamic analysis, and foundation systems, ensuring compliance with Canadian codes and client standards.
You will lead complex engineering activities, mentor junior engineers, interface with multidisciplinary teams, and authenticate structural deliverables in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for Design of Vibratory Equipment
Perform structural steel and foundation (statics and dynamics) designs
Attend client and project meetings (Office / Job sites)
Execution of projects to meet client needs and expectations
Attend client and project meetings
Completion of structural design and analysis to applicable codes and standards
Preparation of technical reports and calculation packages as project deliverables
Perform checks on other engineers' design
Working with designers on the project collaboratively to produce design deliverables
Review project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation against project standards and specifications
Authenticate structural engineering deliverables
Interface with other disciplines, project management to execute work per the Project Plan
Interface with workshare team from other Wood global offices
Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Wood and its clients
Conducting field reviews at project work sites
Qualifications

Expected
Engineering degree (Graduate or Undergraduate) in Civil or Structural Engineering
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA
Minimum 15 years of relevant EPC experience, including foundation design for vibratory equipment (e.g., turbines, generators, compressors, pumps)
Experience designing steel structures supporting dynamic equipment (e.g., modularized building skids)
High proficiency in structural design software such as SAP2000, STAAD, Dyna6 for static and dynamic analysis
Strong background in structural steel and reinforced concrete design
In-depth knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada (Alberta Edition)
Comprehensive knowledge of CSA S16 and CSA A23.3
Broad experience in Oil & Gas or heavy industrial projects
Strong technical writing and report preparation skills
Effective verbal communication and presentation skills
Ability to manage multiple assignments efficiently
Desirable
Experience with finite element analysis
Demonstrated mentorship and coaching of junior engineers
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application
