Job Summary We currently have an opening for a Senior Financial Analyst – Accounting who will perform month‑end accounting close duties, including reconciliations and analysis of assigned general ledger (G/L) accounts. This includes (but not limited to) account reconciliations and analysis of assigned balance sheet accounts and ensuring that they are completed on a timely basis; assists with coaching, training and development of staff; and ensures adherence to accounting principles and standards and internal controls.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Prepares journal entries and other analyses for month‑, quarter‑ and year‑end close

Prepares reconciliations and analysis of assigned G/L account(s)

Prepares reports for Manager and/or Finance team when requested

Reviews assigned balance sheet accounts, completed by staff, to ensure accuracy of information prior to submitting to the Manager for review and approval

Verifies integrity of financial data in accounting system

Monitors monthly accruals of assigned G/L accounts

Assists staff with troubleshooting and resolution of issues or problems, when necessary

Assists the Manager with reviewing departmental processes in order to improve efficiencies and to ensure internal controls are being adhered to. Recommends and implements departmental policies and procedures

Assists the Manager to ensure consolidated financial information are completed by the team by the financial reporting deadline date

Liaises with internal and external auditors. Responds to inquiries, information and reports, as requested

Participates and/or may lead projects, if required

Trains, mentors and coaches staff on accounts reconciliation and analysis, financial system(s) and departmental policies and procedures

Identifies performance gaps and recommends training, where required, to the Manager

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of applicable accounting guidelines i.e. GAAP and auditing standards

Solid knowledge of accounting principles

In-depth knowledge of accounting systems

In-depth knowledge of preparing and analyzing account reconciliation

Excellent communication (oral and written) skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Proven problem‑solving skills and the ability to implement solutions

Ability to prioritize and effectively manage varying deadlines

Strong attention to detail

Ability to coach, mentor and guide team members

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel

Ability to think critically and recommend ideas for improvement on existing established policies and practices

Work Experience – Minimum Required: 5 years of related experience

Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting

Certifications Description: One or more accounting designations, such as CPA or CFA required

Competencies: Agility, Customer First Focus, Inclusion and Collaboration, Accountability, Leading and Developing

Seniority level: Mid‑Senior level
