Our client’s e-Business department is looking for a Lead Developer. The department’s mandate is to create enduring automated analytical tools and value added services for the investor and advisor community. The e-Business department is made up of three teams: Web Development, Project Management and Web Content & Design. These teams collaborate to develop online services, solutions and tools that enhance the client experience with our client.
The department’s goal is to increase the frequency and duration of visits by existing users while encouraging new clients to use the website. This is accomplished by continually developing and supporting a website that delivers web-based solutions that are recognized by key distribution partners as a necessary component of their ability to successfully service their clients.
As the Lead Developer in the e-Business web initiatives, you will assist in developing business requirements, assist in the architecture and the design of the solution in a J2EE/WebLogic environment, document the specifications, write the code and unit test the work. You will also mentor the team and assist in planning for the future.
You will:
Design and Develop –
Design and develop applications based on business and technical requirements
Provide timely updates to Manager, team‑mates and business clients
Identify and define project tasks specific to application development (e.g., timelines, milestones) for planning purposes
Provide proofs of concept and pilot projects with new technologies
Research and development on technologies and future direction
Team Leadership
Provide technical designs and specifications to satisfy end‑user requirements
Provide mentorship for junior and intermediate developers
Be the key contact for providing satisfactory responses and suggested solutions to queries from end users and business clients
Lead, coordinate, and/or participate in analysis and design activities, including working with the Technical Architect to assess projects with respect to scope, timelines, methodologies and design
Participate, manage and adhere to change management processes based on our client’s standards and guidelines
Technical architecture
Be the Technical Architect’s backup for system design and security
Assist with the implementation of project architecture, standards and processes, design, documentation and deployment with the Technical Architect
You Must Have:
Bachelor degree minimum (Computer Science preferred)
5+ years Java application development
3 years experience in Application Development in a J2EE environment
3 years experience in Application Development in a BEA WebLogic Environment
Solid understanding of the BEA WebLogic Portal Framework
Microsoft Windows
Advanced proficiency in Application Architecture, Analysis and Design, J2EE development in a web‑based environment
Intermediate proficiency in Architecture Standards, Application Development Methodology, Implementation Planning, Migration Planning, Data Modeling
You don’t have to have, but it would be nice:
Advanced proficiency in Java, J2EE, J2EE Design Pattern, UML, EJB, JSP, Servlet, JDBC, JNDI, Struts, Weblogic, Portal, Oracle, SQL, all in a web‑based environment
Intermediate proficiency in Architecture, JMS – Messaging, JVM Optimization, Java Mail, Multi‑Thread Application, XML, PL/SQL, DB Transaction, RDBMS, SQL/PL‑SQL Optimization, Oracle data types, Unix, Linux, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
