What is the Opportunity?
Reporting to VP Tax & Treasury, the Director of Treasury will lead Aecon’s corporate treasury function, ensuring optimal liquidity, financial risk management and capital structure to support the company’s strategic objections. The role provides leadership in cash management, debt financing, banking relationships, and treasury systems, while maintaining compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
What You'll Do Here
Develop and implement treasury strategies aligned with Aecon’s business objectives, advise senior management on capital structure, financing operations, and risk mitigation.
Oversee daily cash positioning and liquidity planning across multiple entities and joint ventures. Optimize working capital and ensure sufficient funding for operations and projects.
Manage corporate credit facilities, negotiate financing terms, and oversee debt issuance. Monitor covenant compliance and reporting obligations to lenders.
Identify and mitigate financial risk, (FX, Interest rate, hedging strategies).
Maintain and strengthen relationships with banks and financial institutions.
Ensure robust internal controls over treasury processes domestically and internationally.
Review quarterly and annual treasury reports and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate governance requirements.
Oversee treasury efficiencies and drive automated process improvements.
Manage and mentor treasury team members. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
What You Bring to the Team
Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business, Finance, or Accounting; MBA or CPA/ CTP/ CFA preferred
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Treasury or corporate finance with at least 5 years in a leadership role
Proficiency in Treasury management systems and ERP platforms (SAP experience an asset)
Strong knowledge of cash management, debt markets, and financial risk management
Experience in construction or infrastructure industry preferred
Strong organizational skills and multi‑tasking capabilities
Excellent analytical, negotiation and communications skills
Ability to interact with various levels of management
Ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
