KWESST isseekinga highly skilled and experiencedIntermediate Software Specialistto become a part of our team.This position will be to support the Canadian Armed Forces as part of theDirector Land Command Support Program Management (DLCSPM) ofthe Department of National Defence’s(DND’s)Software Engineering Facility (DSEF) program in Gatineau, Qc.
The ideal candidate should come with a solid background in software development in a Client/Server or Collaborative environment.Core responsibilities will involve the design, implementation, and management of DND’s Command and Control Specialty Applications, with a focus onmaintainingthe reliability and scalability of these applications.Thiscrucial role will contribute to our mission of developingstate-of-the-artsoftware solutions for the Canadian Armed Forces.
Job Responsibilities
Manage,analyze,design,model, andimplementsoftware systems.
Provide software and application integration, analysis, and evaluation support.
Recommend software related system level solutions for discrepancies, deficiencies, and changes to equipment and specifications.
Liaise with software development and application technical groups to ensure system integrity, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Review, analyze, and provide recommendation on software and applications,componentsandinterface documentation.
Prepare the planning and procurement support documentation for software and applications.
Conduct design, technical, and management reviews tomonitor, advise, and report on progress and potential problems.
Conduct and/or witness software integration testing and evaluation.
Supportthe development and maintenance activitiesin accordance withSAFe-Agile model practices.
Qualifications
Experience
A minimum of8years ofdemonstratedexperience in4of the 7followingcriteria:
Software engineering within a Client/Server Environment or Collaborative Environments.
Communications engineering (Hardware, Software and Network) or Specialty engineering (Security, Modelling and Simulation, ISR).
Software Engineering for Real-Time systems, Distributed Systems, embeddedsystemsor mission critical systems environments.
Communications engineering (hardware,softwareand network) or Specialty engineering (Security, Modelling and Simulation)
Software Integration: hardware and software, (COTS and/or custom developed) components into new or existing systems.
Demonstrated experience in the field of Firepower, ISR, C4ISR, or Modelling and Simulation software development.
System life-cycle management for software systems.
Demonstrated experience in the following criteria
A minimum of2years ofDefence systems project experience on militaryor militarycommand and control software systems.
A minimum of4years ofdemonstratedexperience as a Software Specialist within an IntegratedProductTeam (IPT)for an onsite client.
A minimum of 6 years ofdemonstratedexperience in the preparation of technical concept documents,design document, test documents,system specifications,ortechnical proposals in the field of Information Technology, Informationmanagementor engineering (i.e. System, software, computer, communication, security, or simulation).
A minimum of6years ofcommunicating information technology frameworks/strategies to management and technical staff.
A minimum of6years ofproviding advice,guidanceand recommendations on technical issues to support the decision-making of senior management.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
SECRET security clearance (or the ability to obtain one) isa must.
Education
ABachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or asuitable engineering or technicalfield (or equivalent practical experience)isa must.
