Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic well rounded Capital Projects Lead to join our Facilities Management team. The Capital Projects Lead is responsible for repairs, renovations, and improvements to our multi-unit residential buildings. The successful candidate will be responsible for initiating, planning, and executing project activities on time and in accordance with specifications. Under the direction of the Manager, Capital Projects Department the Capital Projects Lead will carry out tasks to supervise and coordinate efforts among the various trades teams and team members to fulfill project goals. Efficient delivery of project deliverables, effective quality control, clear communication of expectations to stakeholders, and upward reporting to senior management are critical tasks that must be performed throughout each project lifecycle.
Your contribution to the team includes:
Oversee a portfolio of projects from inception to closeout. Follow project management guidelines throughout lifecycle of project: document the project goals/objectives, stakeholder management, communications, risk management, assumptions, roles and responsibilities, schedules, implementation management, and associated deliverables
Coordinate, schedule and supervise the day to day work activities of the crew
Delegate job tasks to appropriate crew members to assist in the completion of projects in a timely manner, including the allocation of adequate resources, scheduling, documentation, communication, and other factors necessary for success
Work closely with Capital Project Manager on all field aspects of the project budget, schedule and productivity track and document project activities
Provide support to stakeholders and other business entities as needed.
Monitor the use of materials and resources to ensure operations are within budget
Organize project teams into suitable workgroups and guide the teams throughout their efforts to produce deliverables to achieve the project goal.
Provide hands‑on assistance and guidance on all construction and renovation projects
Establish and maintain work standards and outline behavioural expectations to ensure crew morale and productivity
Reallocate resources across multiple projects where necessary; identify and resolve any issues or problems among crew members
Oversee the execution of the work, including quality and production, by ensuring that the crews work to job specifications
Conduct project post‑mortems to identify areas for improvement; make recommendations based on findings
What you need to be successful:
A good working knowledge of the residential construction industry and uphold tenant and staff safety while performing all aspects of the project
Journeyman Carpentry Certification an asset
A minimum of five years' experience in residential wood frame construction, repair, and renovation
A minimum of three years' supervisory or team lead experience
Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods
Demonstrated ability in carpentry and building maintenance
Highly effective negotiation, diplomatic, and conflict resolutions skills
Able to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including technical, professional, upper management and executive level
Knowledgeable in reading and understanding construction plans
Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
Ability to create and edit project documents, materials, and presentations
Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with business units, corporate departments, key managers, and other stakeholders
Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines
Advanced MS Office and Excel skills
