About The Opportunity Our client, a leader in the infrastructure industry, is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their Canadian legal team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a lawyer who thrives in a dynamic, hands‑on business environment and enjoys supporting complex, multi‑jurisdictional operations across Canada.

As Legal Counsel, you’ll play a key role in providing pragmatic legal advice and ensuring risk‑managed growth across the organization’s business units. You’ll advise on commercial, operational, and regulatory matters while supporting executive and operational teams on strategic decisions. This role is a maternity leave coverage (1 year+) with a high likelihood of going permanent as their team is growing in Canada. Competitive salary, bonus and benefits.

Duties

Provide legal analysis and advice on a broad range of issues, including commercial contracts, construction, supply chain, insurance, and litigation

Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements and support consistency across national operations

Manage claims and litigation files in collaboration with external counsel

Support compliance initiatives and ensure licensing and regulatory requirements are met

Advise HR on employment law and labour relations matters

Collaborate with the national legal team and internal business partners to drive efficient, risk‑aware decision‑making

About You

LL.B. or J.D. and member in good standing with a Canadian law society (Ontario preferred)

5–8 years of post‑call experience in private practice and/or in‑house

Strong background in commercial or construction law; experience in logistics or industrial sectors is an asset

Skilled in negotiation, contract review, and managing competing priorities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a practical, business‑focused approach

About the Job This is a term position with a duration of 1 year to 18 months.
