Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) is grateful to live, learn and work on the traditional and ancestral territories of the Indigenous Peoples who have been and continue to be the stewards of the land. About Us The AIBC is a professional regulator with the mandate to regulate the profession of architecture in British Columbia in the interest of the public. Established in 1920 by provincial statute and governed under the Professional Governance Act since 2023, the AIBC provides flexible working arrangements and has adopted a hybrid working environment. Our office is in a heritage building in downtown Vancouver, near a variety of excellent cultural, restaurant and commuter options.

About the Role With strategic oversight and guidance from the Manager, this position supports day‑to‑day communication efforts, digital platform and website coordination, writing and content creation, graphic development and branding, as well as special projects. The core responsibilities include:

Support the Communications Manager with communication efforts and key special projects, including the development of effective communication strategies.

Contribute to communications planning and recommend new strategies, tools, or approaches to improve reach and effectiveness, and to help meet the organization’s strategic plan goals.

Track project timelines, deliverables, and documentation; support interdepartmental coordination where needed.

Update content on the AIBC website to ensure information is current and accurate, with consideration for user experience, and support the day‑to‑day management of the AIBC’s online environments.

Support the maintenance of the email communication platform, including distribution list and template management. Create and distribute broadcasts and notices.

Serve as digital asset librarian: organize and manage digital files, including PDFs and design assets.

Create and schedule content for social media channels, in alignment with wider communication initiatives.

Write and edit copy tailored to target audiences, ensuring clarity and accessibility. Ensure all written materials are clear, engaging, and aligned with organizational tone and messaging.

Assist with the research, drafting, and publication of news items, announcements, and regulatory reviews, as well as speaking notes and presentation decks.

Develop graphics and visual assets to complement written materials, conveying complex information and processes in an accessible, engaging way.

Produce digital and print materials, including infographics, presentations, reports, and other assets.

Coordinate and liaise with printers, external graphic designers, contractors, and vendors, as needed.

Develop, refine, and maintain branded templates and design assets. Track and coordinate brand compliance across all internal and external materials.

In collaboration with the Manager, liaise with external vendors to support the planning and delivery of virtual and in‑person AIBC events.

About You We are looking for a motivated candidate who is eager to take their career to the next level. If you are passionate about working with people and enjoy a balance of project and hands‑on work and are looking to grow within a small, collaborative team that wears several hats, this role is for you.

A university degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Web Technology, Graphic Design or equivalent field.

3–5 years of Communications or Marketing experience working in a similar role.

Experience working in a public organization, non‑profit, or post‑secondary environment is an asset.

Impeccable attention to detail; strong project management and organizational skills; ability to work independently.

Expertise in digital media, including proven experience in website development and maintenance. Competency with web‑based programs and applications, including HTML and WordPress.

Experience in Graphic Design, including with Adobe Creative Cloud suite, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Skilled in both written and visual communication, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging copy and cohesive graphic designs suited to different audiences and contexts.

Experience working with online platforms and event management systems (e.g. Zoom, Pheedloop) is considered an asset.

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and manage productive relationships with diverse individuals and groups.

This position will offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package, including four weeks paid vacation, Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), extended health coverage, membership in the Public Service Pension Plan, and a subsidised transit pass. The starting annual salary range is $70,000 to $88,000. The actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience, and internal parity.
