Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to join their recently created development team on a cutting‑edge SaaS solution designed to empower first responders and law enforcement with reliable, mission‑critical tools, and you’ll build and manage the cloud environment that makes it all possible.
You’ll play a vital role in keeping the hosting infrastructure scalable and secure, supporting our everyday heroes with a platform they can rely on. You’ll collaborate with the team to keep everything running smoothly, with CI/CD as one piece of the puzzle. Responsibilities
Build and manage several cloud environments (development, staging, production) to host the Lightning solution, including virtual machines, networks, storage, cloud managed services and other cloud related components.
Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform to automate deployment and provision scalable, reliable infrastructure.
Leverage Kubernetes and containerization (Docker) to orchestrate applications and ensure high availability.
Implement security best practices and controls to safeguard resources and data, meeting industry standards.
Monitor and optimize resource utilization, planning for scalability to handle Lightning’s real‑world demands.
Support CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab, streamlining software deployment and releases.
Setup monitoring and alerting systems, analyzing logs to troubleshoot and maintain system reliability.
Collaborate with developers, QA, and cross‑functional teams to align on requirements and document processes clearly.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Extensive experience designing and deploying scalable, production‑ready cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure.
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent hands‑on experience).
5+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer or in a similar role, with a focus on cloud infrastructure and automation.
Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform) and best practices.
Proficiency with Kubernetes and containerization (e.g., Docker), including orchestration experience.
Knowledge of cloud computing environments and managing scalable, secure systems.
Familiarity with scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins) or Azure services.
Exceptional problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to reliability.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate across teams and document processes clearly.
Hybrid in Kanata North. 4 days on‑site (might be some flex)
