Job Description Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings. You will be working on a flexible hybrid schedule as part of Fidelity’s dynamic working arrangement. The work location for this role is 483 Bay Street in Toronto until approximately late 2026, when it will change to the new Mississauga office at 3 Robert Speck Parkway.

Business Overview Fidelity Clearing Canada (FCC) is the leading independent clearing broker and custodian in the Canadian market. We provide trade execution, clearing, custody and back‑office support services to Canadian‑based brokerage firms and the Canadian brokerage arms of U.S.‑based firms.

The Opportunity The Middleware Specialist, FCC is responsible for the design, development, and support of FCC’s middleware platforms. The middleware specialist works on projects, client initiatives, supports integrated solutions for FCC applications, and is a member of an agile shared services platform.

What You Will Do

Develop APIs, integration processes, and execute system flows according to technical design documents.

Author API documentation.

Develop and configure platforms adhering to architectural design, standards, and policies.

Complete unit tests and conduct performance tests as needed.

Participate in deployment and release activities: promote code and configuration changes through non‑prod and production environments, participate in enterprise change management processes, and work with stakeholders to plan and coordinate middleware releases.

Provide production support of middleware issues to internal and external teams, engage and follow up with middleware technology platform vendors to troubleshoot issues (typically through tickets and account‑manager communication), and provide support off‑hours on an as‑needed basis.

Work with internal teams to understand requirements and end‑to‑end solutions: participate in client, vendor, or project meetings, plan deliverables, report status, and collaborate in an agile working environment; provide estimates on development work and communicate tasks effectively to project managers/product owners.

What We’re Looking For

University degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

3‑5 years of development experience with APIs in REST and SOAP.

3+ years of experience in an iPassS, ETL, or ESB environment.

Good knowledge of topics, queues, and event‑oriented architecture concepts.

Working knowledge of JSON and XML.

Knowledge of cloud, hybrid, and on‑prem infrastructures (asset).

Knowledge of TLS, OAuth2, OIDC, SSO, JWT (asset).

What You Will Bring

Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate changes, impact, and challenges to middleware customers.

Strong technical skills in integration technology and platforms – APIs, REST, SOAP, JMS, MQ, event brokers, iPaaS, ESB.

Analytical, detail‑oriented, ability to debug problems to find resolutions.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment.

Good understanding of enterprise processes, standards, and policies.

Results‑oriented and self‑starter.

Base salary and discretionary performance bonus, competitive annual range of $117,000 to $129,000, based on experience and qualifications.
