These positions support facilities and grounds operations at multiple locations across the division. Depending on the assigned tasks, employees may work both indoors and outdoors. Successful candidates will be energetic, conscientious, responsible, and hardworking. As a Grasslands Summer Maintenance Worker, you will have opportunities to contribute to a variety of projects, both individually and as part of a team, while gathering valuable hands-on experience and developing new skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Perform a variety of maintenance tasks at multiple locations, including: Grounds maintenance, including landscaping and cleanup Safely operating power tools and light grounds maintenance equipment Minor building maintenance Moving school and office furniture and equipment IDEAL CANDIDATE SKILLS & ABILITIES The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to: Work independently and as part of a team Solve problems, stay organized, and multitask effectively Anticipate hazards and follow safe working procedures according to Grasslands and OH&S protocols Tolerate and work around dust and fumes Work outdoors in various weather conditions Work in crowded and loud environments Perform physically demanding tasks on every shift that include, but are not limited to: climbing and balancing; stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching; lifting, carrying, pulling and pushing; and prolonged sitting and standing Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of Grasslands Public Schools’ mission and values Conduct oneself in a responsible and respectful manner while working in and around a school environment, in the community, and with third parties, that is in alignment with divisions policies, guidelines and values Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of Grasslands Public Schools’ mission and values QUALIFICATIONS Experience in carpentry, electrical, mechanical, painting, as well as the ability to operate ground maintenance equipment and power tools, would be considered an asset but is not required Valid class 5 driver’s license .........................................................................................................................................................................................................................
