Director - SW Engineering

Base pay range CA$170,000.00/yr - CA$185,000.00/yr

$170–$190K base + bonus + share plan

We’re supporting a well-established Canadian software company building

3D visualization, CAD‑style design, and real‑time integration tools

used across large‑scale events and complex installations.

The team is now rebuilding its flagship

desktop application from scratch . This is a major modernization effort involving new rendering tech, geometry/drafting workflows, and real‑time hardware/software integration.

The Opportunity Lead a senior engineering group (~14) while staying hands‑on in architecture, design reviews, performance tuning, and technical decision‑making. You’ll partner closely with Product and Executive leadership and play a key role in defining the next generation of the platform.

What You’ll Do

Lead and mentor a tight, product‑focused engineering team

Own architecture for a brand‑new desktop platform

Guide modernization from a legacy native stack

Stay close to the code where needed (performance, rendering, integration)

Represent engineering in customer conversations, trade shows, and industry events (~10% travel)

What We’re Looking For

Background in

desktop or real‑time software

(not pure web)

Experience in one or more:

game engines ,

simulation ,

CAD/geometry ,

3D visualization ,

AR/VR

Strong track record rebuilding or modernizing complex native applications

Hands‑on technical leader (comfortable diving into code, performance, architecture)

Experience leading teams of ~10–20 engineers

Based in the GTA or willing to relocate; hybrid

3 days/week
