This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Markham Elevation Centre (MEC) or Oshawa Elevation Centre (OEC) three times per week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business.

Body Controls Calibration & System Test Engineer , you’ll play a critical role in developing and validating the electronic control systems that bring our vehicles to life.

This is a high-impact role where you’ll own technical solutions from concept through validation, act as a subject matter expert, and collaborate across teams to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality vehicle systems.

The Body Controls Calibration and System Testing Team is looking for a Body Electronics Calibration and System Test Engineer to join our organization! Our area is rapidly growing and is being transformed due to the adoption of software defined architecture. In Body electronics system test space, we calibrate and validate different customer facing features in functional areas like Exterior and Interior Lighting, Vehicle Access, occupant Protection, Cabin Comfort, etc. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands on experience in future technologies GM is introducing in Body Electronics/Mechatronics space

What You’ll Do

Lead technical solutions across requirements definition, functional decomposition, calibration, and validation for body control systems.

Develop and validate calibration and test deliverables, ensuring quality, compliance, and alignment with program goals.

Troubleshoot and resolve software anomalies, driving continuous improvement in system robustness.

Perform complex design analysis, balancing requirements across features and functions.

Share best practices and support consistency across the global software community.

Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for at least one platform or component, mentoring and guiding peers.

Present data-driven insights, proposals, and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders.

Lead/Support Technical Reviews:

Lead test automation development and execution for relevant body controls products.

Lead and execute certification relevant activities for body electronics software features

Collect data using advanced test equipment.

Analyze, review results and document failures via PRTS, Jira etc.

Author validation reports (CG190 etc.)

Participate in Agile ceremonies (PI planning, DSU etc.)

Support issue root cause analysis and resolution

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum 3 years of experience in calibration, testing, or validation of automotive systems (body controls experience a plus).

Minimum of 3 years of experience in performing testing in multiple test environments (HIL, Vehicle, Virtual).

Strong background in system requirements, design analysis, and test execution.

Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to propose innovative solutions to non-standard challenges.

Proven track record of working independently and mentoring less experienced engineers.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.

Valid US Driver License

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in electrical/computer/software engineering

Minimum of 3 years of experience in programming/scripting (Python etc.)

Minimum of 3 years of experience with Test automation framework (Autobot, etc.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in Software Integration testing/System integration testing and/or Feature testing and/or Calibration.

Experience with vehicle and bench validation at component or subsystem level

Experience with in-vehicle calibration including use of tools (ETAS/INCA, Intrepid, etc.) for data acquisition and analysis.

Experience with data logging tools (Vehicle Spy, CANALYZER Tools etc.)

Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) process and familiarity with Gherkin Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Jira and other configuration management, version control and code quality tools.

Experience debugging software/electrical/HW issues

Working knowledge of embedded software development using C/Matlab/Simulink and associated tools (Jira, DOORS, Rhapsody, etc.)

Quick to learn, ambitious, and willing to work hands-on with GM's vehicles and benches.

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary team

Compensation: The salary range for this role is $ 115,000 to $ 164,600. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
