We are looking for an early‑career Naval Architect Engineer to join our Transition to Service Department, working specifically with the Transversals team on the River‑class Destroyer (RCD) program. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of Canada’s most significant naval projects while developing hands‑on expertise in ship design, survivability, and naval engineering.
In this role, you will support the team responsible for confirming that the RCD design meets key naval architectural requirements that minimize the ship’s vulnerability to damage and maximize its ability to survive, recover, and continue operating in demanding environments. You will work closely with senior engineers and cross‑functional specialists to analyze design data, review technical documentation, and help verify that ship systems and arrangements support overall survivability objectives.
We’re committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Fleetway is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals, including those from underrepresented groups, and we strive to create an environment where everyone feels respected, supported, and empowered to thrive.
Responsibilities
Support engineering change analysis across naval ships, systems, and equipment, including structures, materials, welding, coatings, and preservation, shock and vibration, damage control, and piping systems.
Assist in technical investigations and engineering studies to inform design decisions, validate system performance, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Contribute technical input to engineering specifications, design documentation, drawings, and modeling activities.
Review, maintain, and update technical documentation for naval systems and equipment to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with engineering standards.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support design development, integration activities, and problem‑solving.
Participate in design reviews, meetings, and technical discussions to share insights and support effective decision‑making.
Apply relevant codes, standards, and naval architecture principles to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant system designs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture Engineering.
0–5 years of relevant experience.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and classification/industry standards.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
