This is a senior leadership opportunity to strengthen how Crombie communicates, internally and externally, while adding strategic marketing capability to support leasing, operations, and growth across the platform.

The Opportunity Reporting to the Senior Vice President, People and Culture, the Director will lead an integrated communications and marketing function with accountability for enterprise communications, brand strategy, reputation management and strategic marketing.

Operating across regions and time zones, Crombie requires a leader who can bring clarity, consistency and strategic alignment across the organization while remaining closely connected to on-the-ground business activity. This role is designed to bring a proactive, insight-driven discipline that supports business growth, strengthens reputation and reinforces stakeholder trust. Crombie is seeking a leader who can quickly establish structure and momentum and brings a modern communications lens and a solid execution mindset to elevate both internal and external impact.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop a high-performing, integrated team

with clear priorities, accountability, and elevated standards.

Lead enterprise marketing and communications strategy

aligned with business priorities, positioning and growth objectives.

Enhance internal communications , by strengthening leadership visibility, change communications, and employee engagement through clear and consistent messaging.

Drive external communications and reputation , including PR, media relations, executive profiling, issues management, storytelling, and corporate positioning across owned, earned and shared channels.

Build a proactive communications cadence

through editorial calendars, campaign frameworks, planning tools, and repeatable processes.

Partner cross-functionally with leasing and operations leadership

to deliver marketing that supports leasing activity and strengthens tenant and community engagement.

Steward and evolve the Crombie brand , ensuring consistency, relevance and differentiation across all channels marketing assets.

Lead digital

and content strategy optimizing Crombie’s presence across web, social, and corporate platforms to drive engagement with key audiences.

Build measurement frameworks and KPIs

to track and improve effectiveness and demonstrate impact.

The Ideal Candidate You are a senior communications leader with 10+ years of progressive experience across communications and marketing, with a proven track record of building and leading teams in complex environments. You bring a modern, integrated approach to communications who sets clear direction, reinforces high standards, and creates the conditions for people to do great work. You are a trusted advisor bringing strong judgment, exceptional writing, and the credibility to advise the CEO, executive team and senior leaders. You are comfortable navigating a national organization, building relationships across functions, and maintaining a communications focus grounded in the daily realities of the business.

Location and Travel Crombie’s team operates nationally, with employees located across Canada, including key hubs in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Ontario and Alberta. The organization currently operates on a three-days-per-week in-office model. We have a hybrid approach with meaningful in-person presence essential to building relationships and driving impact.

In the interest of building and maintaining cross-regional relationships, this role will require periodic local and regional travel within and outside the province, including to our office in Mississauga and Avalon Mall in St. John’s Newfoundland
