Director of Finance - Real Estate - 3-6 Months Our client, a large retailer with stores across Canada, is seeking a Director of Finance to join them on a 3‑to‑6‑month contract assignment to assist with setting up the back‑end accounting and financial reporting on their real‑estate holdings. The role is on site 5 days a week in the west end of North York.

Compensation:

CA$90.00/hr – CA$90.00/hr (base pay range)

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the setup and optimization of accounting processes for complex real estate structures.

Oversee financial reporting, ensuring compliance with public company standards.

Manage full cycle accounting, including consolidations, reconciliations, and system integrations.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external auditors to ensure accuracy and transparency.

Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members while remaining actively engaged in day‑to‑day execution.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in Accounting or Finance.

Professional designation (CPA or equivalent).

Extensive real estate industry experience, ideally with exposure to large‑scale portfolios.

Experience with Real Estate asset accounting and reporting.

Public reporting expertise, with a track record of preparing and filing financial statements under IFRS/GAAP.

Strong systems knowledge, including ERP platforms; prior involvement in a system implementation or upgrade is ideal.

Advanced MS Office and MS Excel Skills.

Proven ability to balance strategic oversight with hands‑on execution.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
