Job Description
POSITION: Junior School Teacher - temporary
ASSIGNMENT: Textiles, Food Studies, Career Education (Gr 8-9). This position has a grade 8/9 Foods/Textiles focus. It also includes Career Education classes. There will be opportunities to work collaboratively within the POD structure.
FTE: 1.0
LOCATION: Quesnel Junior School
EFFECTIVE DATES: Commencing September 1, 2025, until June 30, 2026, or earlier depending on the return of the incumbent
Basic Qualifications:
A successful candidate will hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate and be a member in good standing in the BC Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch AND possess one or more of the following:
Training Specialization:
Secondary Education with major/minor Home Economics
Related Teaching Experience:
Recent successful experience teaching foods and textiles at the Secondary level
A Reasonable Expectation:
based on a teacher's skills, abilities, professional development, and overall classroom teaching experience, that the teacher will be able to perform the duties in a successful manner in collaboration with other professional staff.
Additional Qualifications:
Two or more courses at the 100 or 200 level in Home Economics or one year experience in the relevant subject area
Have Food Safe Certification and proficiency with food equipment
Other:
Commitment to the house-based team structure
The starting annual salary for the full-time Teacher ranges from $61,175 to $109,520 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
