Starting Salary Range: $125,000 - 140,000

THE OPPORTUNITY The Vice-President (VP), Finance will provide financial leadership at the organizational level, overseeing all finance and accounting functions, conducting forecasts and projections, and monitoring treasury activities. This individual will also play a key role in EF’s long‑term strategic decision‑making processes and will play an important role in reporting to the Board of Directors.

Reporting to the CFO, the VP, Finance will play an active role in the financial management of the organization, including planning, performance management, risk management, mitigation and reporting, and execution of financial operations aligned with EF’s strategic plans.

As the ideal candidate, you bring strong technical accounting expertise, along with a CPA designation, and a proven track record of achieving financial effectiveness and efficiency. You understand the complexities of working in a rapidly growing not‑for‑profit in a global environment and bring expertise in developing organizational‑level financial strategies that deliver sustainable financial results for EF. You have a well‑defined sense of diplomacy and can effectively adapt to the political sensitivities of a feminist association. You are known for your transparency, tact, foresight and long‑term strategic thinking. You are recognized for your high level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability. You bring exceptional communication skills that inspire trust, and have the ability to build collaborative working relationships at all levels of the organization. The VP, Finance is a member of the senior team and will play a leadership role during EF’s critical design and build phase.

SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Works closely with the CFO and the Controller in the financial management of EF, including financial budgeting, reporting, planning, performance management, risk mitigation and execution of financial operations aligned with organizational strategic plans

Prepares timely and accurate periodic and ad hoc financial reporting, including insightful analysis against performance targets aligned with EF strategy and annual operating plan

Advises the CFO and senior management on organizational performance from a financial perspective

Oversees the development and implementation of appropriate and efficient policies and procedures relevant to accounting, budgeting, forecasting, tax, internal controls, payroll, pension and benefits, procurement, and project tracking

Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including professional organizations such as advisory firms and financial auditors

Monitors and assesses impacts of changes to legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to financial reporting, tax and operations

Leads and supervises finance department staff on accounting, tax, reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and other financial matters, including strategic tax planning and procurement

Creates a culture of teamwork and engagement within the finance team and promotes professional development and career growth opportunities; acts as a team and culture builder who values and instills diversity, equity and inclusion throughout all finance practices and empowers all voices and decision making

Develops and implements short and long‑term financial plans and forecasts in accordance with business goals and objectives, including quarterly cash flow projections

Investigates variance in budgets, reporting, internal controls, and general accounting; deploys measures to resolve variances

Provides advice and counsel to the CFO on all business, tax and financial matters

Works closely with the CFO in supporting the EF Finance and Audit committee and the EF Board of directors

Works closely with the CFO on organizational risk management/internal audit to ensure effectiveness and adequacy of internal controls related to financial operations

Acts as a trusted and respected colleague, providing financial counsel and support to managers and staff as requested

Other duties as assigned such as project management/ monitoring of new ERP selection and implementation

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

CPA designation is required

Minimum of 6 years of progressive management/leadership experience in a similar role

Experience working in a non‑profit, human rights, or advocacy organization is an asset

Experience with investment management and related accounting and reporting

Advanced proficiency with accounting softwares, spreadsheet programs/applications and Google suite

Experience creating and managing budgets for a large, distributed organization

Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy

Demonstrated experience building teams and managing change; ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments and key business stakeholders

Professional working proficiency (verbal and written) in English

Proven experience with organization growth scaling is beneficial

French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic considered assets

Demonstrated high ethical standards, integrity, honesty, and ability to work with sensitive information in a confidential manner

REQUIREMENTS

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Able and willing to travel in Canada and to regions where EF has partners, for up to 3–4 weeks per year

Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required when coordinating with people in other time zones

Willing and able to work remotely on mostly computer‑based work
