Senior Pipeline Integrity Engineer (3Month Contract) Location:

Calgary, Alberta Term:

3month contract (with potential extension) Reporting to:

Supervisor, Pipeline Integrity Management The Senior Pipeline Integrity Engineer will provide technical support, engineering assessments, and integrity program execution for a portfolio of pipeline assets. The role focuses on threat assessment, fitness-for-service evaluations, regulatory compliance, and coordination with operations and project teams. This contract position supports ongoing integrity initiatives and ensures safe, compliant, and reliable pipeline operations.

Responsibilities

Engineering Assessments & Technical Analysis

Execute engineering assessments to support pipeline status changes, including reactivations, flow reversals, pressure changes, and decommissioning activities.

Conduct Fitness evaluations, including review of in-line inspection (ILI) data, technology selection, historical dig performance, cathodic protection data, and internal corrosion programs.

Apply class location requirements and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Integrity Program Support

Support the execution of the pipeline integrity management program, including inspection, monitoring, mitigation, and risk management activities.

Participate in internal/external corrosion reviews, risk assessment sessions, program reviews, and budget planning meetings.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date integrity records, metrics, and documentation.

Stakeholder & Operational Interface

Work closely with operations, project engineering, integrity vendors, and consultants to support safe and efficient pipeline operations.

Prepare and deliver technical presentations, summaries, and recommendations to internal teams and external stakeholders.

Review and manage thirdparty crossing requests and provide engineering guidance to ensure pipeline safety.

Vendor & Supply Chain Support

Support procurement processes for integrity related services.

Develop scopes of work, review vendor deliverables, and evaluate performance.

Regulatory & Compliance

Ensure all integrity activities align with applicable regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Interface with regulatory bodies as required for engineering assessments, status changes, and compliance documentation.

Qualifications

Professional Engineering degree or relevant technologist certification.

7–15 years of experience in pipeline integrity engineering.

Strong competency in threat assessment, risk assessment, and risk mitigation strategies.

Advanced working knowledge of ILI technologies and analysis (MFL, geometry, IMU, ultrasonic).

Demonstrated experience in corrosion, cracking, deformation assessment, and repair methodologies.

Familiarity with the full pipeline lifecycle: design, construction, operations, maintenance, and abandonment.

Strong understanding of Canadian and U.S. pipeline codes, standards, and regulations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.

Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license.

Willingness to travel occasionally to field locations (approx. 10%).
