ABOUT THE ROLE
The Managing Director is a senior leadership role responsible for directing and operating a Mortgage Investment Corporation (MIC) - Aventus Capital Corp – including the full-cycle of investment and mortgage activities.
RESPONIBILITIES
Investor Relations & Growth
Support efforts to attract new investors and capital.
Communicate the MIC’s investment strategy, portfolio performance, and risk framework to prospective investors.
Assist in preparing investor materials and responding to investor inquiries as required.
Coordinate with customers, ensuring clients are valued and receive great professional service.
Mortgage Investment Corporation & Compliance
Responsible for establishing processes and internal documentation of Aventus MIC.
Maintain compliance given MIC’s are highly regulated, with BC Securities, FINTRAC and BCFSA regulations.
Keep current on banking products, legislative/industry requirements, and market trends in order to act as an expert in your field and maintain compliance.
Mortgage Activities
Managing the cull-cycle of mortgage activities from loan origination to underwriting, funding, and compliance.
Review loan applications, ensuring lending ratios and metrics are within guidelines for loan approval.
Assess clients’ financial status, evaluating credit worthiness and risks and make recommendations appropriately.
Leadership
Along with the leadership team, develop and implement strategic plans and company growth targets and responsible for meeting those targets, particularly assets under management.
Responsible for general operations including recruitment and hiring, marketing and general day‑to‑day activities.
Collaborate with other departments including Human Resources, Accounting, for example financial statement prep and audit,.
Manage one direct report including performance management and training.
Review and manage cash flow budgets of funds available, loan payouts, and loan disbursements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
7+ years’ related experience in real estate lending, commercial, finance industry, banking/mortgages.
Post-Secondary education in finance or related field is required.
Mortgage Brokers License and Dealing Representative License are required.
Knowledge and experience with investment products (IE: private investment products).
Knowledge about registered investments (IE RRSP’s and TFSA’s).
Experience in full‑cycle mortgage activities and underwriting.
Experience with MIC Manager (Dolphin) and CRMs is considered an asset.
Strong capabilities working in MS Office products including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, Videoconferencing.
Excellent understanding of lending procedures, evaluating credit risk and worthiness.
Self‑motivated, a high level of personal responsibility, accountability and resolve.
Strong communication, relationship management and listening skills.
Detail‑orientated and strong analytical skills to review information, anomalies, and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively.
Ability to work under the pressure of meeting deadlines.
Experience in real estate development and evaluations is considered an asset.
