Opportunity
The Director, Finance, provides strategic leadership and operational oversight across Finance. The role oversees financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance to ensure financial integrity and support organizational priorities. The Director leads key finance teams—including Financial Planning & Analysis, General Accounting & Financial Reporting, and Accounts Receivable & Collections—ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with legislative requirements and not-for-profit accounting standards.
The Director, Finance plays a central role in identifying financial risks, developing financial strategies, and presenting insights and recommendations to senior leadership and Board committees. The Director also leads cross‑functional finance initiatives, including system upgrades and process improvements, while maintaining strong internal controls and policy frameworks. Internally, the Director provides strategic financial advice to leaders across the organization, ensuring planning and budgeting processes are aligned with TSSA’s Memorandum of Understanding. Externally, the role engages with vendors, advisory councils, auditors, and the Ministry of Public and Business Services Delivery and Procurement (MPBSDP), supporting program activities and communicating financial updates and fee changes.
Ideal Candidate
CPA designation and a Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or finance combined with progressively more responsible and accountable finance leadership experience.
Strong financial skills and acumen with deep expertise in financial planning & analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and controls.
Demonstrated experience with financial systems and Canadian accounting standards for not‑for‑profit organizations preferably in a regulatory or technical environment.
Extensive experience in collaborating with senior leaders, navigating complex issues, and identifying business needs.
Demonstrated strategic, analytical, and critical thinking skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial tools, enabling sound decision‑making, clear direction, and actionable insights that drive impactful business outcomes.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to present complex financial data to diverse audiences, including senior leadership, board members, and external stakeholders, by translating technical concepts into clear, actionable business outcomes.
Proven ability to lead strategic, cross‑functional initiatives and manage change through effective enterprise‑level project management, organizational planning, and team leadership.
