One of our clients, a major oil and gas company has tasked us
with identifying a Project Engineer to support an ongoing assignment in the Greater Hamilton Area. This position is offered as a
1‑year contract with a high possibility of extension
and operates on a
Monday–Friday schedule .
The Project Engineer performs engineering design evaluations and works to complete project activities within established budget and scheduling restraints. The role reviews industry policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance, and assesses reports of production, malfunction, and maintenance to identify or address issues. The engineer provides technical support throughout the engineering process, relying on existing instructions and guidelines and working under immediate supervision. While independent judgment is limited, the role includes
back‑up responsibilities for the Project Manager
as required.
Main Functions
Performs engineering design evaluations and ensures project execution aligns with budget and scheduling constraints
Reviews industry standards, policies, and internal procedures to uphold accuracy, security, and compliance
Evaluates production, malfunction, and maintenance reports to diagnose or resolve issues
Supports engineering workflows and contributes technical guidance to project teams
Follows established procedures and works under direct supervision
Provides back‑up support to the Project Manager when necessary
Tasks and Responsibilities
Participates in Invitation to Tender (ITT) development, bid evaluation, and contractor selection
Supports identification and sourcing of long‑lead equipment and coordinates FEED contractor support until equipment assignment
Coordinates development of
EMCAPS Gate 3
deliverables
Facilitates preparation of the Functional Interaction Plan
Manages project issue‑resolution processes
Coordinates change requests and endorses change authorizations
Ensures completion of assigned work scopes in alignment with project objectives
Engages project and functional teams to confirm design and construction compliance with specifications and standards
Acts as liaison between the Project Team and contractors
Ensures smooth transitions between project phases
Leads the Project Management Team (PMT) in applying Project Management Systems
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
Background spanning engineering, construction, project management, and project controls
Multi‑discipline skill set with broad technical exposure
Comprehensive knowledge of design standards, specifications, and work processes
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and influencing abilities
Excellent coordination, planning, and interface‑management skills
Ability to manage tight deadlines, significant workloads, and shifting priorities
Excellent communication skills with fluency in English (written and verbal)
Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Compensation
$50–$74/hr
depending on experience, classification, and contract structure.
Final compensation will be determined based on candidate qualifications and client requirements.
