Project Engineer
NexGold has an exciting opportunity for one (1) full-time permanent
Project Engineer . Initially, this role will have regular travel to our Corporate Office in Toronto and periodic trips to the assigned Project. This role will transition to an on-site rotational work schedule during the assigned Project’s construction phase. Initially, this role will be assigned to the Goldboro Gold Project in Goldboro, Nova Scotia. Following the Project’s construction phase at Goldboro, this role may have the opportunity to transition to operations at Goldboro or may be assigned to the Project team at the Goliath Gold Complex near Dryden, Ontario, or other project sites in the future.
This role is primarily responsible for the coordination between engineering contractors along with review to ensure quality deliverables as per the project schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Management
Assists the Project Director, Area Managers and Engineering Manager, ensuring the successful technical engineering and execution of the project, including achievement of schedule and budget targets;
Plans and directs engineering contractor’s work ensuring that project deliverables comply with the contract, and are produced technically fit-for-purpose, on budget and on schedule;
Facilitates the development of design, procurement and construction schedules for approval;
Develops scopes of work (SOW) and other documents related to assigned procurement and contract packages;
Coordinates engineering effort with Construction, Procurement and Project Management;
Reviews and approves design documents, change orders, material requisitions and specifications for construction, or procurement use;
Facilitates the development of Supplier Quality Surveillance plans;
Reviews and approves consultant’s and contractor’s Quality Plans and supports the development of task specific Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s) for construction and commissioning activities;
Audits engineering and construction contractors for compliance to their quality management systems (QMS) and their project specific Quality Plans;
Supervises the preparation of, reviews and endorses bid analyses and recommendations for procurement of equipment, materials and services;
Coordinates the resolution of field-initiated questions on engineering;
Coordinates activities among the engineering and non-engineering disciplines on the project;
Reviews engineering progress against approved schedules, evaluates changes and takes corrective action when required;
Manages the flow of information between engineering contractors to assure the timely progress of the engineering work;
Manages and controls the scope of the project;
Assists in the production of Construction Work Packages (CWP’s);
Fosters a spirit of enthusiasm, health & safety focus, team building and continual improvement within the Engineering and Quality group;
Other
Demonstrates a personal commitment to Safety, Health, and Environmental responsibilities;
Occasional travel (i.e., trips to project site) during the engineering phase of the project;
Regular turn arounds at site during the execution phase of the project (site schedule still to be determined); and
Additional responsibilities or tasks as reasonably assigned
What You Bring:
Must Haves:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering;
Minimum 10 years relevant experience in mining and mineral processing projects with at least 5 of those years in a project engineering, engineering management or project management capacity with a solid understanding of engineering processes;
Experience developing procurement and construction RFP packages for bid and technical and commercial bid evaluation;
Experience with greenfield execution phase projects;
Experience with open pit mining, mineral processing and supporting infrastructure;
Experience working with multiple stakeholders;
Strong leadership skills including the ability to motivate and engage a team;
Superior interpersonal and relationship management skills;
Effective written and verbal communication skills;
Valid driver's license;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
Ability to work with minimal supervision; and
Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in Nova Scotia.
Preferred Qualifications:
Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in both Ontario and Nova Scotia.
Role Details:
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm. During construction phase, schedule will change to a rotational schedule working on-site at the assigned Project (schedule TBD).
Work Arrangements:
Hybrid with periodic travel to the assigned Project site and regular travel to the Corporate Office in Toronto, if the incumbent does not live in Toronto. During the construction phase, work arrangements will change to a rotational schedule working on-site at the assigned Project (schedule TBD).

Compensation:
Competitive compensation package including base salary range of $160,000-$185,000 annually, dependent on incumbent's qualifications and experience. Eligible for discretionary short-term incentive program and long-term incentive program.
