Hourly Rate (Contract)
$90 – $105/hour (depending on experience and licensing)
Overview
We are seeking a
Fire Protection Engineer (P.Eng.)
to support fire protection design, analysis, and compliance activities within a nuclear laboratory environment. This role will act as a key engineering authority, ensuring fire protection systems and designs meet applicable nuclear, national, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform and review
Fire Hazard Analyses (FHA)
and fire safety assessments
Provide engineering input into
design, modification, and construction projects
Develop and review engineering deliverables (design requirements, test plans, reports)
Conduct
code compliance reviews
(NBCC, NFC, NFPA, CSA standards)
Evaluate fire protection system designs and recommend improvements
Support
engineering calculations and technical justifications
Review contractor designs and ensure alignment with nuclear safety requirements
Provide technical support for fire investigations and system performance issues
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Fire Protection)
P.Eng. license with Professional Engineers Ontario (or transferable)
2+ years of fire protection experience within
nuclear or highly regulated environments
Strong knowledge of
NFPA, NBCC, CSA (N293/N393)
standards
Experience with engineering design reviews and technical documentation
