Benchmarking Consultant – Capital Projects & Performance Assessment

to support the delivery of PTAG’s benchmarking and performance assessment services. This role is for an analytically rigorous consultant who is comfortable working with structured data systems and data pipelines, and who can translate defensible quantitative insights into actionable improvement opportunities.

As a Benchmarking Consultant, you will support client engagements that combine statistical analysis, structured data workflows, and qualitative assessment to evaluate project and organizational performance against industry peers and best practices.

Role & Responsibilities In This Role, You Will

Support delivery of benchmarking and performance assessment engagements for capital projects and portfolios

Collect, normalize, validate, and interpret project cost, schedule, risk, and performance data

Perform statistical and computational analyses to create simulation analysis, and to identify trends, correlations, outliers, and performance drivers

Apply PTAG and industry benchmarking frameworks using defensible analytical and data management methods

Support peer comparisons and metrics calculation across multiple projects and organizations

Assist with management of benchmarking data pipelines, including data ingestion, transformation, and quality checks

Work with structured databases and data interfaces (e.g., SQL‑based systems, APIs) supporting benchmarking platforms

Collaborate with technical and data teams supporting integrations with systems such as Autodesk Construction Cloud and PTAG’s CII Data Warehouse Connector

Participate in client interviews, workshops, and working sessions to gather qualitative insights

Assist with facilitated discussions to identify systemic risks, constraints, and improvement opportunities

Contribute to development of benchmarking reports, dashboards, and analytical exhibits

Translate analytical results into clear, defensible, and actionable insights for executive audiences

Support preparation of executive‑ready materials summarizing performance, risks, and recommendations

Contribute to continuous improvement of PTAG’s benchmarking methodologies, datasets, analytical tools, and data standards

Capture lessons learned and support internal knowledge development

Qualifications / Requirements To Succeed In This Role, You Bring

Experience supporting benchmarking, performance assessment, analytics, or management consulting engagements

Strong applied statistical analysis skills, including experience working with project cost, schedule, risk, or performance datasets

Experience applying statistical methods such as normalization, distribution analysis, correlation, regression, or comparative analysis

Comfort working with structured data systems, including relational databases and data pipelines

Familiarity with data concepts such as APIs, ETL/ELT processes, data transformation, and data quality management

Ability to synthesize quantitative statistical results and qualitative inputs into clear, defensible insights

Exposure to capital projects, infrastructure, engineering, construction, or industrial environments

Experience supporting workshops, interviews, or stakeholder engagement activities

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain analytical and data concepts to non‑technical audiences

Proficiency with statistical and analytical tools (e.g., R, Python, SQL, or equivalent), in addition to spreadsheet and presentation tools

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Economics, Data Analytics, Applied Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field

Preferred

Master’s degree in a related field

Experience supporting benchmarking platforms or data warehouse environments

Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud, asset/project data systems, or AEC data ecosystems

Exposure to API‑based system integrations or middleware‑supported data exchanges

Experience with Construction Industry Institute (CII) benchmarking programs and methodologies

Background in project controls (schedule, cost, risk integration)

Familiarity with AACE, PMI, and Lean principles.
