AtkinsRéalis is proud to announce its participation in the Alto high-speed rail project, connecting Québec City to Toronto, as an experienced partner within the Cadence consortium.

About Cadence This consortium—comprising CDPQ Infra, AtkinsRéalis, SYSTRA Canada, Keolis Canada, Air Canada, and SNCF Voyageurs—was selected by the Canadian government to develop the project following a rigorous bidding process. Thanks to our expertise, we will ensure optimal performance and seamless service within a modern rail network.

Your role

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align Fire and Life Safety (FLS) objectives throughout design workshops and review cycles.

Develop and implement integrated FLS strategies that ensure system performance, regulatory compliance, and seamless interdisciplinary coordination.

Embed FLS requirements early in the design process by reviewing engineering and architectural plans and guiding multidisciplinary contributors.

Interpret and apply codes, standards, and regulations (NFPA, CAN/ULC, building codes, transit-specific requirements) while liaising with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).

Conduct fire risk assessments for rail stations, tunnels, maintenance facilities, and related infrastructure, recommending effective mitigation strategies.

Prepare strategic reports, compliance matrices, and design review documentation to support key project decisions.

Support the evolution of internal FLS expertise by mentoring colleagues and contributing to long‑term discipline development.

About you

Hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, building sciences, or a related technical discipline with specialization in fire protection.

Hold a relevant professional certification such as CFPS, OIQ, PEO, NFPA Fire Plans Examiner, or equivalent.

Bring at least 10 years of experience in Fire and Life Safety systems design for infrastructure or transit projects.

Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Canadian and international fire‑protection codes and standards, including NFPA 130.

Be proficient in French and English, both spoken and written.*

Expected compensation for this role is between $117,200 – $161,200 annually (Only Applicable to Ontario). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.

*This position requires knowledge of a language other than French, namely English, as it involves collaboration with members of the Canadian or global leadership team located outside Québec.
