Position Summary
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, operational support, and continuous improvement of enterprise network infrastructure across on-premises, colocation, and cloud environments. This role provides senior-level technical leadership across routing, switching, wireless, firewall, SD-WAN, segmentation, and cloud networking platforms. The engineer ensures high availability, security, performance optimization, and operational compliance within a 24/7 production environment. This position serves as a technical escalation point and contributes to lifecycle management, capacity planning, operational governance, and hybrid cloud network strategy.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure across on-premises, Equinix colocation, and AWS/Azure cloud environments.
Provide 24/7 Incident and Problem Management support, including on-site response when required.
Monitor and respond to alerts across routing, switching, firewall, wireless, SD-WAN, and cloud networking platforms.
Perform proactive health checks, performance optimization, and capacity management.
Execute failover procedures and participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) testing.
Provision and manage carrier circuits and Equinix cross-connects.
Provide on-site rack/stack, hardware support, and structured cabling.
Administer hardware, software, OS, and firmware upgrades, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
Manage firewall, VPN, SD-WAN, and Illumio segmentation policies with proper governance and compliance controls.
Manage certificate and key rotation/renewal across network and security platforms.
Follow disciplined ITSM processes for Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
Act as a senior technical escalation point for complex network incidents.
Support Cisco routing and switching, Cisco Wireless, Palo Alto firewalls and Prisma Access, SD-WAN (Palo Alto or VeloCloud), Cisco ISE, Cisco DNAC, and SolarWinds Orion platforms.
Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of enterprise network engineering experience.
Proven experience operating in high-availability, mission-critical production environments.
Strong hands-on experience with:
Cisco routing and switching
Cisco Wireless infrastructure
Palo Alto firewalls and Prisma Access
SD-WAN technologies (Palo Alto or VeloCloud)
Illumio micro-segmentation
Cisco ISE and Cisco DNAC
SolarWinds Orion or comparable monitoring platforms
Strong experience with hybrid cloud networking (AWS and Azure).
Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, QoS, IPsec, SSL VPN, and network security architecture.
Strong understanding of carrier connectivity, colocation deployments, and cross-connect provisioning.
Familiarity with infrastructure automation and configuration management practices is an asset.
Industry certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, Cisco Wireless, PCNSE, or AWS certifications are preferred.
