What we offer The Vice-President, Technology will be an experienced and hands‑on leader accountable for the development and execution of a comprehensive technology strategy in the context of a new manufacturing entity with multiple business units. This role will build the technology function, design, scale and lead the team required to oversee operational technology (implementation and stability of partner‑provided robotics solutions), hardware, software, IT systems, and security. They will also own responsibility for the seamless interoperability of all systems across SAMI, Mattamy Asset Management (MAM), and Mattamy Homes, partnering with Mattamy tech leadership to ensure requirements are met for information exchange between these parties. The Vice‑President, Technology is accountable for the scalability and operational excellence of technology within SAMI. The ideal candidate brings robust experience in operational technology within technology‑driven manufacturing environments, coupled with an innate drive for continuous improvement and innovation, and a deep understanding of how software integrates with the physical world, including hardware, robotics, and machinery.

What you’ll do

Strategic Leadership

Create, implement, and maintain a strategic technology and infrastructure roadmap that aligns with business goals

Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies, anticipating future technology needs and scaling the infrastructure accordingly

Continuously monitor advancements in manufacturing technology, automation, software engineering, and hardware innovation to recommend and implement cutting‑edge solutions

Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources

Act as the primary technical expert to senior leadership on all technology considerations

Partner with leadership in MAM technology to leverage best practices and ensure strategic integration roadmaps between SAMI and MAM

Technology Leadership

Lead the evaluation and selection of software solutions. Determine where implementation of existing software and tools makes sense, and where custom software should be built

Where software builds are required, act as the driving force and primary executor of the full software development life cycle

Oversee software & API development, leading all phases of software development projects from gathering of requirements to maintenance

Implement AI technologies to automate, streamline and simplify day‑to‑day work processes in the business

Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of all technology infrastructure, including on‑premises servers, networks, cybersecurity, MES system, and cloud‑based solutions

Drive the integration of technology systems with manufacturing machinery, enabling data‑driven operations. Ensure alignment with the factory’s specific needs and seamless integration across Odoo (ERP system), various manufacturing execution systems, and JD Edwards

Adhere to best practices and quality standards, ensuring seamless project delivery and scalability

Security, Compliance, and Reliability

Implement robust processes and technologies to guarantee system reliability, security, performance, and scalability to meet the demands of the business

Maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations

Act as a subject matter expert on all cybersecurity considerations, implementing best practices

Designing and scaling a high performing operational technology team

Assess the talent and roles required as Stelumar moves through different phases of business growth (set up, scale up, ongoing operations)

Establish the right performance metrics, meetings and governance mechanisms to scale the organization in an agile fashion managing high performance

What you bring

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree (MBA or Computer Science‑related) is an asset

10+ years of technology experience, including at least 3 at a leadership level. Previous exposure to roboticized manufacturing environments is ideal

Demonstrated expertise at all stages of the software development life cycle, with at least 3 years of relevant experience at a senior leadership level

Proven experience developing and integrating existing software solutions

Demonstrated ability to build, lead and mentor a team while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Strong experience in cloud computing, cybersecurity, and network infrastructure

Excellent project management skills with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with an understanding of financial and project management processes

Bonus Points

Relevant leadership experience in technology startups

Experience with the design and integration of robotics solutions & new machinery to enhance efficiency within manufacturing environments

PMP or Lean Six Sigma designations are an asset
